My Thoughts on the KJV

How I see the King James Bible

  • I love the KJV, and should be the only version ever used

I was not raised on the KJV. In Seminary, we certainly did NOT use it. It was considered to be a joke. I remember asking my mom to please buy me a KJV, which she did and I practically had to sneak it in. I remember it as a Collins with red edges, leatherette. I kept it in my Chapel stall, behind other books. After I became a Christian, my first Bible was the 1967 edition of the New Scofield RB. After awhile, I discarded it and went into the Harper Study Bible, RSV. I've been through most major translations, and last year, I returned to the KJV, after many years. I have come home, now. I love it, and use it.

Good, the KJV is a good translation.

Really? Wouldn't that mean that in a few places the NKJV would be different or lacking words found in the MT Greek?

Yes, the English interlinear renderings above the words in the Majority Greek Text do differ in some places from the English text of the NKJV. In this book, the NKJV's text is printed in a separate column at the outside edges of the pages with the Greek Majority text with the English interlinear renderings.
