Caught thirteen grumpy groundhogs in my backyard last year
Four racoons (actually caught two twice - the second time they were relocated)
The foxes are too smart but they keep the feral cat population down!
(The beaver relocated itself)

Yea they're smart, especially the older ones, but they can be caught in a cage trap using fox urine (deer hunter masking scent works fine) and setting the trap to appear open at both ends (like a hollow log) by covering/hiding the cage with weeds/cornstalks/brush etc. We've caught two that way - thanks to YouTube video. :)

Dad has caught them using cantaloupe as bait; says they can't resist cantaloupe. I've never had a groundhog problem in the garden, but deer and coons different story.

I've found that ripe strawberries work best for me.
Why would I want to catch a fox, they help keep the groundhog and rabbit population down.
...although the turkey population is nil now.
I have seen a fox sunning itself beside the neighbors cat, even foxes are prone to keeping bad company.

So why would a church set a live trap and them shoot the animal?

Why would I want to catch a fox

These were a family of Red Fox that were decimating my daughter's ducks and chickens. We caught two young ones but were never able to catch the parent(s). My daughter eventually gave up on free range chickens and now has free range geese and ducks live on the creek. Geese are MEAN.

So why would a church set a live trap and them shoot the animal?

Probably the 'church worker' acted on his own, and wasn't the brightest candle on the cake...…..

You take good pictures.

Is there a location in this country where cats don't run loose?

Irrelevant question

Under local law, the cat-owner has no legal recourse if the cat is trapped. If it is killed, that is a different story.

Personal pets are to be vaccinated and controlled by the owners. Except in very few rural occasions they are not allowed to run loose. This woman can get upset at the church (he should not have shot the cat) but she is as much responsible as anyone else.

Why was her cat out running loose in the first place.
In most jurisdictions cats are considered free range animals. And killing a known pet is, in most jurisdictions, at least a Class C Misdemeanor, and in some jurisdictions it is a felony.

He was attempting to remove the cat from the cage when it attacked him. He only fired in self-defense ... a clear case of "stand your ground". :)

Uh no tbey are not. Not anywhere i have ever lived. Pets are pets and failure to control them will get you a citation.
