This type of pitiful proof texting makes me angry. The texts that Crabtown liberal posted above are even worse.

This is about them building IDOLS, and worshiping according to the ways of the pagans, it is NOT about environmentalism!!!

And keep in mind, I graduated in 1980, so it may take a bit....

yes, x^2 means x squared, and the parentheses was to make numerator and denominator clear.

Not putting you on the spot, I know after engineering school, most engineers rarely use their calculus, usually computer and/or book of derivatives, integrals and solved differential equations.

You got that right! It's been a while since I've used calculus.

My 14 year old is in advanced placement physical sciences and mathematics and occasionally he asks for help with his homework. You can almost hear the gears creaking as they start to spin in my noggin!

I don't really trust my answer, but I'm having a hard time dedicating my brain....

3/2x is what I come up with, now, but will continue to look, later. This is a toughie.

That isn't right, at all.

The (3) is throwing me. Does it mean 3 divided by x squared, or is it a seperate argument ? Without it, the answer is most definately 2x.

1. move the x^2 to the numerator making the function now

f(x) = 3x^-2

2. multiply the exponent -2 by the coefficient 3......= -6

Either of the following is correct, depending on how one likes to simplify, whether or not negative exponents are permitted in the result

f'(x)=-6x^-3

f(x)=- 6/(x^3)

Well that was a very good one.

The only math I use right now is figuring out crossover components.(making sure bass frequencies do not get put into tweeters). I have used vector graphs in calculating the quality of electronic components....



It's about all my specialty requires.

Thanx for the challenge, I loved pouring over those old notes.....

Believe me, I greatly understand the principle, "if you don't use it, you lose it". I don't teach Finite Mathematics (Combinatorics) very often. Every time I teach it, I have to "re-learn" it, always is a " struggle for me.
