New Doctor Who

In August, he's a-comin.

Seems like an eternity between broadcasts.

Should be good to have an older actor play the Doctor. I tired of Matt Smith's constant rapid fire dialogue, constant body motion--pirouettes, arms flailing, head shaking--and constant attempts to "be cool". I'd like to see a bit of cantankerousness in this Doctor (like #1) and a bit of arrogance (like #6), and confidence (like Tennant's Doctor).

After watching this I have many conflicting thoughts.

One thought: It's 4 minutes of my life I can't get back.

Don't care about age, only whether the actor is good.

You know, I can't figure out whether you actually like this show or not. I also don't understand why the show can't just be enjoyed without running it down at every opportunity.

Older actor means the writers will be less inclined to inject possible romance between the Doctor and companions. It's implausible. We don't need that.

I love the show. It's not unassailable. It's not without faults. I dare say that since the reboot there is much, much more to criticize about the show (so long as you don't include the 7th Doctor's era. That was dreadful.)

Not saying it's unassailable or without faults. Fear Her was awful and the end of Love and Monsters was terribly cringeworthy. Just seems like you complain about the show far more than anybody else and I really just don't see the point in dancing on the 11th Doctor's grave about how much you really didn't like him after all.

So, you criticize the show so much because you love it? Okay.

Can't wait to see what the show will be like in August. Moffat has promised that it's different.

I don't think I posted it here, but ever since Day of the Doctor, I've been telling my kids, guaranteed actually, that the Master is coming back. Prior to The Day of the Doctor, there wasn't going to be a believeable explanation for how he escaped Gallifrey. But, in Day of the Doctor, once the Master realized what the Doctor was doing, and he certainly would have, there's little doubt that he would have found a way to get off the planet before it was gone.

Here's why I bring this up at all.

Master is always a "welcome" nemesis and enemy to our beloved Dr Who!

If it's wrong to love somebody as evil as the Master, I don't want to be right.

He's still a-comin' and he'll be here on Saturday, August 23rd. We even have a title for the first episode, "Deep Breath".

There's another itty bitty trailer released today.

We've been hearing that the Doctor is going to be different, but we have no real idea what that means. Moffat is releasing these as glimpses of the fact that he's going to be different. We will be saying what Clara does, or, rather, Clara will be saying it for us, that, "I don't know who the Doctor is anymore." It's telling that she doesn't say, "I don't know who you are anymore."

I love the character as well but I hope they get a new actor to play him.

I guarantee you that there will be a new actor. John Simm was great casting and was brilliant opposite of Tennant, but I don't think he's be the right actor opposite of Capaldi. I hope we get the regeneration scene that Simm has said he would do.

I guess I am accustomed to Matt Smith. I didn’t really like him at first….but now I hate to see him go.

I was the opposite. I thought he was good at first (and Tennant is a tough act to follow) but as his era went forward I grew tired of his antics.

Sorry, but the Daleks appearing in a story means you don't have any fresh ideas.

Unless you have seen the script and/or show already, then you can't say this on July 20th. It's just you talking out of your hat. I might agree with you on August 23rd, but not on July 20th.
