Next US President a Mormon?

I don't consider choosing life to be a flip-flop. Goodness gracious, I hope we don't want everyone to remain pro-abortion just so they can avoid the charge of flip-flopping.

Also, it is my opinion that Mitt did not choose life just to get votes.

When I hear the word "morals", I think of sexual conduct.

I don't think being a Mormon should have any bearing on whether or not one supports Mitt Romney. As has been stated, the Constitution declares that there be no religious test for holding public office; I don't see any reason to try and apply one now. Also, since Mr. Romeny has held public office before, I would think it would be imperative for someone to show how he has consulted with Mormon church officials in the past and how this has adversely affected this judgment in his past decisions while in office.

I would not vote for Romeny, but the fact that he is a Mormon has nothing to do with this decision.

 

Aren't most other presidents at best nominal? They may have "religious (denominational) backgrounds" that officially acknowledge the deity of Christ, but don't they themselves generally take a watered down view of Christ? People were so shocked about Bush letting a Muslim pray in the White House, or whatever that uproar a few months ago was about, but then to be in any public office, you generally have to echo the common view of society, which is at best, that Jesus was just a good man, and all religions are equal. Reagan even less seemed like a born again Christian. Most of these people are "cultural Christians", and perhaps no more orthodox than Mormons (who are at least more serious about their beliefs).

The question that a Mormon raises to me is would he be trying to legalize polygamy? I guess that's better than homosexual marriage, but I'll bet the former would be blocked bu the rest of the government, as the latter continues to gain ground!)

 

Baloney, I have NOTHING to repent for in not supporting a candidate that treats Jesus Christ as some sort of second hand god. He did support abortion. Nothing to retract or repent for. You go right ahead. Maybe Mitt is an oil company apologist, I dont know. One thing I will guarantee you, he will not get this state's electoral votes.

 

Care to make a bet about that. Let's see how confident you really are or if you are just a noise maker. I have a neat(non-monetary) bet in mind if you are interested.

But yes, if you mean a non monetary bet for Kentucky electoral votes in 2008 by Mitt Romney, sure, you got a bet.

While I pray that our country will not be lead by a Mormon, we have slid into such great depravity that I believe that God has removed His protection and guidance from us. We are becoming, if we have not already become, no more than any other secular and evil state.

We have been a secular state ever since July 4, 1776.

It is really silly for people to be popping off every time things don't go their way politically to whip out this trite phrase that "God had removed His protection and guidance from us" and then when things go their way politically to whip out the phrase that "our country has turned back to God".

Sometimes I think that Christians are as fickle as the worst sports fans are.

 

When you say us, do you mean us as in Christians? or do you mean the USA?

When and Where did God state he would protect the USA?

Just because this country was found on the freedom of Religion, what makes us believe that it had God's hand in it including his protection?

Is there a verse I missed?

Actually the moral system of Mormons wouldn't be any worse than JFK's under RC. At least I assume that now without any real evidence. We have until recent years relied on a good measure of morality from our CIC's. But from JFK on we've been let down, with Ronald Reagan the exception. And maybe Bush the elder. Now Gerald Ford comes to mind. My theory is fading.
