NFL Bans Kneeling During National Anthem

The league & the teams agreed back in Nov ‘17 to pay 90-100 million toward causes deemed important to players, with a focus on the black community. I do not call them African-Americans, that is a PC name. No one is called English- American, or Irish-American. Anyway, some of the more activist players say that’s not enough to stop them, hence this dog & pony show where the league is trying to put out the fire of people boycotting them with this ‘action’. Black Lives Matter? Who knows where this windfall will land. The league wants us to forgive & forget so they can keep raking.

NFL owners unanimously passed a new policy on Wednesday that requires players to stand during the national anthem if they are on the field during its performance but allows team members to stay in the locker room if they do not wish to participate.

Still gives them option to remain in tunnel. Did not go far enough. I am still boycotting the NFL. I don't use "African American". I have a friend from South Africa that is white as a bed sheet. He is African American. These black folks born in the USA are not "African American."

I guess they were losing a bit too much money to cause this change. That being said, I still will not be tuning in to watch the NFL games. I have better things to do with my time.
<applause>

I quit watch NFL football in 2015 when my team, the Vikings supported a child beater, Adrian Peterson. Haven't missed it at all. In fact, not following football frees up a lot of time to do constructive things. I watch the Super Bowl for old times sake, but that's about as much NFL that I care for these days.

Here's guessing that some of the malcontents that stay in the locker room will try to make their team mates stay there with them for "support"...as any real "team" would do.

Were those offended by the present batch bending the knee equally offended by Tebow doing it?

Why not? Or why are the actions of the players now disrespectful? What's the difference?

Or is it really about what they're protesting and whether folks agree or disagree with that cause...?

In the US it is proper flag etiquette to stand when the anthem is playing. If Tebow wants to kneel after scoring a touchdown there is no established social "rule" prohibiting it.

You may find this odd but I agree with both Tebow and Kaepernick & Co: my point is that if one is supported in his right to make a visual statement of belief, so should the other.

Hmm...sounds like special pleading to me...
You asked...I answered.

The next time there is knighting ceremony at Buckingham Palace, suppose the person to be knighted walks up to Prince William (or whomever is wielding the sword and doing the honors) and instead of bowing and then kneeling in submission he stands straight upright, throws his arms wide open and shouts, "Give it to me!"

I'm guessing people might object. Or would it merely be special pleading on their part?
