Too late for this type of fear mongering, we've already given him the keys to the nation and 60%+ think he's doing great.

Oh, and PS... Obama will have no more control over this census then any president in the past. Good or bad, he has the power of the president and to start limiting power because you don't like THIS president will impact all future leaders.

Rather than speaking in vague terms, like you actually said something, why don't you go ahead and defend Obama on this by telling us just what Presidents ave in the past taken direct oversight, in a partisan way, of the census like Obama is wanting to do?

After all, Obama's record with ACORN is sterling.

ACORN was more fear mongering by the GOP. Obama was the only one robbed by ACORN because he paid them to register folks who were never going to vote or he paid them to register people more times than the could vote. Thank God for something as simple as putting a check mark by the names of the people who come to vote to make sure they don't vote twice...

The president/party in the white house has always appointed who oversees the census. You saying Republican presidents make a habit of appointing Democrats to oversee the census. Perhaps it has never been done so blatantly but never the less, the president not only appoints the person who oversees the census but the president also makes sure the census is done, "right"...

Don't politicize Census Bureau

Nothing could be less transparent or open than for President Obama to politicize the Census Bureau. By having the census director report to a political operative - White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel - the data that the bureau publishes will lose any sense of credibility for accuracy, honesty or truth.

White House, stay out of the census

Whatever the White House's true intent, this stinks. One of the worst failings of the Bush administration was to overly politicize functions of government that ought to have been reasonably non-partisan. This would be that, again.

White House politics at play

The census is one of the most important jobs the commerce secretary oversees. To pull the Census Bureau out of the secretary's purview and move more control to the White House suggests that the new president wants a Republican in his Cabinet for show, but doesn't trust that Republican to do the right thing with regard to the census.
