O'bama rex: NO Nuclear Weapons????

O'bama rex is pushing for the destruction of all nuclear weapons. I wonder what he was smoking when he came up with that idea. I know he is a crackpot but I don't know whether that is literal or not. It is a stupid idea since we cannot even keep Iran and North Korea from developing these weapons.

Does anyone in their right mind believe that Israel will embrace Nuclear disarmament?

However, the question I would pose is: What would happen to the United States if we did not have Nuclear weapons given that the population of Communist China is about ten times that of this country? I am certain many liberal/leftists would not care but I do.

True, I will say this for Reagan. He got Gorby to tear down the wall... I recall hearing similar comments like he was smoking something when he began that quest... Never hurts to dream and there is no greater failure than not trying.

It seems to me too many billions were spent on developing and producing those weapons to tear them all down. Why not get rid of the clause in our treaties that bans detonation of nuclear weapons in space and build an Orion starship? The weapons could be used to power it.

He's not talking about unilateral US disarmament. He's talking about a reduction of nuclear weapons worldwide.

I distinctly remember Mr Reagan suggesting a missile defense shield. Once fully developed (and it did have proven promise of working) it would render nukes delivered by missile, useless. And thus no need of them (ICBMs) any longer.

Sadly Lady Eagle you are correct on all points. You may recall that some of the leftists in this country were pushing unilateral nuclear disarmament during the 1980's.

Obama has stopped funding further research on this vital program. This is sure to give encouragement to our enemies to further develop their missile technology.

Reagan's defense shield was a huge laser in a plane that was supposed to destroy the war head but not the missile. Remember the phrase star wars? So yes he spent a ton of money on missile defense but his ideas and all that money never amounted to missile defense.

LOLOLOL... I forgot all about that. I was in the military at the time and there were many who thought we were going to war... If we'd of known then what we know now about Russia, I think we'd of called their bluff. They didn't have nearly the number or quality of weapons we thought they had.

To put it bluntly you don't know what you are talking about. Reagan did not define any system. Unlike the leftists he did not believe that the president automatically became the fount of all knowledge. He started a program that looked at many approaches to missile defense. The first successful defense was actually a missile that could hit an incoming missile. There is currently a system that uses lasers to destroy the missile early after lift off. That system is apparently being axed by O'bama rex.
