"Once Saved, Always Saved"

Christ likens Himself in the Gospel of John as the Good Shepherd.

When one of the flock that belongs to the shepher wanders off, the shepherd goes and finds that one and brings it back into the fold.

Christ is the same way. He knows who is His. When those that are His wander off, He goes and get's 'em and restores them to the fold.

"Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience" (Luke 8)

...This parable is centering around The Kingdom and Fruit, not salvation by grace through faith...

As I stated earlier, scripture says, the devils also believe and tremble. This is non-saving belief.

Once again, does Jesus know who truely believes?

Exactly, Cutter!

Notice those who have no root are on the wrong Rock. If they were standing on the solid rock, Jesus Christ, there would have been root.

And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: (Matthew 12:25)

Jesus knows the heart. He knows who truly believes and who is just playing games.

But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all [men], (John 2:24)

Matthew 18:12-13 ( KJV ) 12How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? 13And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.

So when Jesus said they believed for a while, did they believe?

Jesus keeps all that the Father gives Him and not one of them is lost.

You are implying that Christ cannot find one of His that has wandered off!

Paul sinned quite often. In all his sinning, Paul never once said he lost his salvation.

How sad that one would preach a doctrine of fear of losing one's salvation when Christ, the good Shepherd is his or her keeper!

So when Jesus said they believed for a while, did they believe?

If a man comes in the church and believes that the preacher is an honest man and believes that what he has preached is the truth, does that mean he is saved.

No, the question is, with all due respect, does Butch5 know what he's talking about?

I do, why will you not answer the question? This is what happens all the time. People want OSAS to be true at any cost. It is a simple question. Jesus said thy believed for a while, if they did not believe then please explain why Jesus said they did. Where in the Bible do we see any Scripture that says, they were never really saved?

Of course:

Jesus is God the Son (the second person of the Trinity).
God is omniscient (meaning all-knowing).
Therefore, Jesus (God the Son) knows who truly believes.

Well, there you go, Butch5, you've answered your own question! Congratulations! :applause:

However, if Jesus said he believed then He believed.
