I wonder the same thing when I hear statements like "If you're a Democrat you can't be a Christian." Have you ever said that?

This is where you are missing the entire point. Being a Democrat or Republican has nothing to do with being a Christian, and no one said it did. The center of our lives is Jesus Christ. Now, the country we live in has nothing to do with that. You are very lucky you live in a country that allows you to worship as you please, but your loyalty to this nation is seperate and apart from your salvation. In our nation, we have the right, as Christians, to effect change in the government. This does NOT mean you are showing alligience to the USA over Jesus Christ. You owe loyalty to your country whether you are saved or not.\

You keep bringing up Democrats and Republicans, or Democrats vs Republicans. This is where perspective on history comes in. If you understood how far away these two parties have taken us away from our core values, when we were founded, then you would understand that the two present parties are nothing but legalized thieves that are interested in nothing but self indulgence and power, when they should be interested in serving the American people. Both parties are a stench to the Lord, and he will hold this nation accountable regardless of what you think about keeping faith and civil duties seperate.

What I have found is that people who like to degrade our founders by citing examples of their flaws (they were fallen just like us), or talk about the unBiblical qualities of the Declaration of Independence and Consitution, are people who never lifted one finger to serve this nation. They do not have a clue as to what the real price of freedom is. Their idea of their part for patriotism is going to a fireworks display or flying a flag on their car.

I think that is the same case in many religious organizations too. But they never got there without the participation of its members either by support or apathy.

I would say you are correct.

I would say you are correct and the larger problem is apathy. I had a professor in school who kept hitting the same note over and over on Christian organizations as well as politics. He would say apathy was about 60% of the problem and support of bad programs or teachings were about 25% of the problem. He would say you could take over most any church, school, business or political party with 25 to 30% support, because people don't care or they want to jump on a winner.

Yes I have. One cannot align himself with a party that condones the slaughter of innocents and the legalization of sodomy and call himself a Christian. There isn't a political party outside of the Communists that has been as hostile to the free exercise of true religion other than the Party of Democrats. That is about as logical and accurate as saying one cannot support a party, the Republican Party, that supports a pre-emptive war and the killing of innocent civilians as well as supporting tax cuts for the rich and still be a Christian.

Abortion, though I am against it, is legal and thus not murder. It does not matter what your or my personal opinion is as far as legality is concerned.

Perhaps you missed my point. It is not logical nor accurate to say a perspon cannot be a Christian simply because they support one political party or the other. As far as I am concerned there is good and evil in both parties. Thus, it is the person running that should be looked at and not the party.

Oh, and I consider the killing of innocent civilians murder.

Since you conveniently forgot I will remind you that in 1990 Iraq tried to take over another sovereign nation who is a NATO ally. When we beat them back they remained under a cease fire. When we went back in we were still under a cease fire. After 12 years of thumbing their nose at sanctions, and UN demands to be open about their capabilities we went revoked the cease fire and went back in. Now you can legitimately argue against the reasons for going back in. But Pre-emptive it was not under any sense of the term.
