Opposing Sabbath

1. Opposing it’s origin -

God said:
(Gen 1-2 we see the “making” of both Mankind and the Sabbath )
“He rested the Seventh-day and sanctified it (– made it holy)” Gen 2:3

Christ then speaks to the “making of both”
The “Sabbath was Made for Mankind not mankind Made for the Sabbath” Mark 2:27

But Evolution makes that entire sequence “meaningless”. In which case the only real meaning with a literal 7 day week is in Exodus.

2. Limiting its authorship and scope –

God said:
The seventh-day is the Sabbath of the Lord Thy God” Ex 20:8-11
“The Holy Day of the Lord” Is 58:13

But If it can be “reworked” so that it is merely “the holy day of the jews” or possibly “the holy day of Moses” then if
You are not a Jew – you are exempt.

3. Rejecting the Law of God – as if it were an “act of faith”

God said:
“Do we then make void the Law of God by our faith? God forbid! In fact we Establish the Law of God” Rom 3:31
“What matters is keeping the commandments” 1Cor 7:19
“Not the hearers but the doers of the Law Will be Justified” Rom 2:10-13

But if we can somehow invent “a gospel” that destroys God’s Word – His Law that “is added” to whatever gospel was used in the OT
Then we can argue that “that Ten Commandments are ended or at least downsized so that we can go to heaven by grace”
(A good way to do that is to take Col 2 and argue that instead of our debt (certificate of debt NASB) nailed to the cross it is God’s Word – His Law that is nailed to the Cross)

4. Ignore the “all mankind scope” given for both OT saints and the New Earth

God said
“From Sabbath to Sabbath shall ALL Mankind come before Me to worship” Isaiah 66:23

But if we can say that He did not mean that this would really happen – or if He did mean it – he still intended for
Sabbath to be nailed to the cross – then brought back for all mankind in the New Earth – we might get at least some time without it – “by faith”.

What say you?
If you keep the Sabbath – how do you get around these barriers to “The Holy day of the Lord”??

If you do not keep the Sabbath – which path do you take to get there?

in Christ,

Bob

The Sabbath commandment given to the Jewish/Israeli was replaced by Jesus:

John 13:34 (KJV1611 Edition):
A new commandement I giue vnto you, That yee loue one another, as I haue loued you, that yee also loue one another.

Ed,

You have to prove verse that Sabbath was given to "Jewish/Israeli" and it is replaced by Christ.

John 13:34 doesn't suggest us that Christ replaced sabbath. Christ doesn't saying it. You just interpreting John 13:34 in your own view.

Your argue on John 13:34 is still gray or flaw.

Rev. 22:20 -Amen!

Happy Sabbath to all!

I wonder why.

I don't oppose the sabbath any more than I oppose animal sacrifices so why vote.

"I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another"

"For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God."

"The just shall live by faith."

"Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster."

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."

"For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh."

1. Are you saying that this option is not given in the list to vote for?

Limited law -- either completed/ended or at the very least downsized to 9.

So part 1 - your answer is "Limited Scope -- just for Jews"

Part 2 of your answer is that "Love your Neighbor as yourself" Lev 19:18 is new in the NT. And when someone loves their neighbor they no longer comply with God's 4th commandment calling for a memorial of Christ's work as our Creator in the form of a weekly day of worship and rest on the very day "He sanctified"?

Ok --

Bob,

I don't find any of the choices satisfactory. The point of any such discussion is do we live the Christian life in the flesh or in the Spirit.

If you would keep the law, you are trying to live Christianity in the flesh but you must then keep all the law by the "motions of the flesh." And Paul tells us this will never work, Rom 7:15.

Now, if you would be a true Christian, you would live the Christian life in your spirit and grow the spirit into obedience of the flesh in doing "greater works than these [Jesus' works]." John 14:12.

Let every day be Sabbath and let all men "rest" forever from his own works! :jesus:

Further, there isn't one verse in Exo thru Deu that applies to gentiles in Everett, WA. It is a social contract of the Land of Israel.

Boggles my mind anyone can conclude that the calendar days have accurately been tracked for 6000 years.

so in your way of thinking -- do Jews pick a day as the 7th day and then many Christians today "pick a day as week-day-one resurrection day" and it "just so happens" that both days "work out" so that Day 7 is followed by Day 1??

Or do the two religions get together in collusion to determne that they will both be in agreement... in your view.

Or are you arguing that since the times of the Romans in 100 B.C the Calendar is in fact - exactly known?

There is no "Sabbath problem".

I had that option in there four times!

There is no Sabbath "problem" if one is not looking for a way around it.

Option 5 -- Law "eliminated" or "Abolished" for the Christian: That does not address your solution to Christ's memorial of His Creative Work??

Option 5 accomodates both the person that would argue that the Law of God was "downsized" and the one who wants to say "no in fact it was eliminated"

It appears that this is in fact the solution you selected --

Some people think we should keep the sabbath while some don't.

Some think it is a salvation matter while some don't.

What's the witness of Scripture?

Indeed.

I am asking people to put their own solution out in the open and also to comment with what they have found in scripture to either support their idea or to challenge it.

For my part - I have shown in the OP some Bible arguments in favor of Christ the Creator's memorial of Creation.

As a true Jew Jesus celebrated the Sabbath:

"When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boyhood home, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures" (Luke 4:16, NLTse, emphasis mine).
