Oprah and Rick

Watching Oprah's lifeclass right now and I really need to turn it off. This guy is so fake. 30 minutes in he has mentioned God three times and not in a saving way. I'm not saying he must share the Gospel, but he is a SBC minister and he's on Oprah's show. She has admitted on her shows before that she doesn't believe Jesus is the only path to God, but will Rick ever confront her with the truth of this matter? I'm betting not. Rick and Oprah have been spouting on about his Purpose Driven Life book and how it is "Not about me" for 30 minutes of physcology 101. Then Rick says We are "playing for an audience of one", meaning it is all about me and not pleasing others. This is the same thing his book states. I cannot believe this guy. He makes a great Dr, Phil but a lousy evangelist. IMO

There is 15 minutes left on the show and Rick doesn't seem to be willing to share Christ with Oprah or the audience. He has never mentioned Jesus once, maybe that is because Jesus never believed in Warren's "Playing for an audience of one" philosophy. Please someone tell Warren it isn't about ourselves but all about Jesus, then he will have it correct, but I'm sure Oprah wouldn't allow that. How sad.

I will always tell everyone to run from this guy and to Jesus.

Saggy, I don't think so, he was explaining a new chapter in his PD book where he stated some people want to be like someone else and others want to be liked by others and this was two types of people, he immediatley said instead we need to be playing for an audience of one. He never mentioned God or Jesus, I took it to clearly be about self. If he did mean it to be about God then why not say it?

I did see portions....long portions, not in and out ...of this show, but I don't remember watching it in its entirity, so I cannot say what was meant in this segment by him (nor what was or was not edited out.)

I do know that when this phrase is used in my circles, the audience we are playing to is God.

I'm so sick of all this mamby pamby, side stepping of pointing folks to Jesus Christ.

Why on earth should anyone even need to guess at what he's saying? But that's exactly how you word things if you want to appear "enlightened".

You're supposed to be a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Then preach the GOSPEL!!!

Does anyone know of a SBC preacher who would be given a full hour on national TV with Oprah that would fail to mention Jesus or the gospel at all? I know it is Oprah's show and she probably told him what he could say or couldn't say, but why even go on if he was barred from mentioning Jesus? I'm speculating here...sorry...this guy just gets me all worked up, or I should say down...lol:BangHead:

And that's my big issue with him and all the folks who keep doing this mess. PREACH the Gospel. The world doesn't need to hear the self-help mess. Oprah has given them that for years.

but if you're afforded a platform to reach millions, PREACH the GOSPEL ALREADY or stop calling yourself a minister of the Gospel.

That actually is a common phrase to mean that we are doing things only for God's audience and not anyone else. It's sometimes easy to use that which means something to us but means nothing to the world and not explain it. He should have explained what he meant but for a Christian, it would be pretty obvious Who he was speaking about for the "one".

I've read PDL and it's NOT "all about me". I didn't see that at all in the book and I'm pretty critical of religious books.

What we see is what the producers want us to see. Pastor Warren was not sitting with Oprah for only an hour but much more likely at least 2 hours. And Rick Warren knows this. He has been on camera enough to know what hits the cutting room floor. He also knows Oprah's opinions of Christ. He went into the interview fully aware.

If he doesn't mention one word concerning Christ...yet promotes his book where Christ and the gospel are presented, how is that bad? While it may be a different approach than some use here, its the end result that matters more than the methodology.
