Oprah and Rick

If he doesn't mention one word concerning Christ...yet promotes his book where Christ and the gospel are presented, how is that bad? While it may be a different approach than some use here, its the end result that matters more than the methodology.

Well IMO, I don't think a Christian pastor should go on Oprah who is clearly not a Christian to promote a book.

Yes. I think he should have. Let the :tonofbricks: fall where they may. LOL

I will go further than Amy......He should have gone on there to rebuke her.....I dont believe that was ever done. But when is the Christian community going to start acting "Militant" to the world that has no consideration for the Savior? In fact, per your earlier SNL video, it was contempt. Imagine that, our Lord & Savior, Creator of all things is held in contempt by his own creatures.

I disagree completely on the militant approach. That is the worldly approach. You've been listening to Luke2427 too much

I'm not seeing how that would be an approach condemned in Scripture, particularly if it points people to Christ. You have to remember the world listens to Oprah and will listen to her guests.

Having been in broadcasting and having been interviewed numerous times in public relations for a hospital during some really rough times, let me tell you something. What we see is what the producers want us to see. Pastor Warren was not sitting with Oprah for only an hour but much more likely at least 2 hours. It is very possible that he DID speak of the Gospel and it's "on the cutting room floor". I'd not at all be surprised.

OH come on!

He should gone on there to "engage" her. Rebuking would simply have meant that the appearance and interview would probably never make it to public broadcast.

Yes, and the world knows of her love of books like The Secret and her love of the teachings of Depak Chopra and others.

If she knew he had intentions of preaching the gospel on her show, she would not have invited him. Period.

While true it just goes to show that any plan of satan will be thwarted. How many millions of people will now read PDL in one of her book clubs and see the gospel? This is a bad thing...how?

I read the first PDL. There was no gospel in it. That was enough for me.

The gospel is offensive to unbelievers, therefore it is offensive to Oprah. She does not believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation and is not going to promote a book or author that says he is. Therefore, RW cannot preach that Jesus is the only way on her show and as a result, the gospel cannot be preached on her show because Jesus IS the only way and that IS the gospel.

You must have read the wrong book. If you don't see the PDL as presenting the gospel, its on you not the book.

No. It was the right book. If you can show me where he presented it, please do.
Been there, done that on one of the hundreds of threads about RW. If you claim to not see it now, you won't see it even if I do your homework.

I'll do it for you.

on page 58 we find him leading the prayer of “Jesus, I believe in you and I receive you” and then saying “Welcome to the family of God!” How can a person become a Christian without any understanding of his own sinfulness or of Christ’s sacrifice on our behalf?

This is not the gospel.

Now as to my previous post, if RW were known for proclaiming Christ as the only way of salvation, would Oprah have invited him on her show to proclaim it?

There's an unbiased source  You do realize John Piper agrees with me?

I don't know why Oprah does things other than for ratings and money. I'm sure both overshadow the content of her guests

What does John Piper have to do with anything?

I just did a Google search to find the quote that I KNEW was in RW's book. He did not present the gospel in PDL, and I proved it to you.

You can love RW all you want. That is your business, but I presented the facts, not anything made up. You can do with it what you will.

Amy, webdog is in the tank for RW let's face it. I've tried for years to convert him away from the darkside but cannot. Maybe it's best just to ignore the obvious.
