I was not in the trustee meeting, but I’m pretty sure that these hand-picked SBC trustees did not have issues with, as you call it, “male headship.”So His viewpoints from the Bible on male headship did not cause any of this then?

I think you’ve got it all wrong. Are you a member of the SWBTS community? Are you a Southern Baptist? Do you know anyone at the seminary? Doesn’t sound like it.They were "in crisis" because Satan is attacking. They are now truly in crisis because they surrendered to the criticism of the wicked. They compromised. They caved.
The pressure was from inside their ranks and the larger SBC community.Buckling under worldly pressure will not cause them to get better though!
Hard to have the blessing of the Lord when you deny Him!They were "in crisis" because Satan is attacking. They are now truly in crisis because they surrendered to the criticism of the wicked. They compromised. They caved.
They might not have, but many feminine groups did!I was not in the trustee meeting, but I’m pretty sure that these hand-picked SBC trustees did not have issues with, as you call it, “male headship.”

They obviously just care about money.I was not in the trustee meeting, but I’m pretty sure that these hand-picked SBC trustees did not have issues with, as you call it, “male headship.”
...And, I can't help but think an 18 year old blog statement is not the real issue, but rather is the excuse being used by the anti-Patterson people to nudge him out of the Presidency. He has always been a divisive figure due to his ultra conservative stance and his outspoken manner.
Did they ask her not to report it to police?More serious is the allegation by a former Southeastern student that she was raped on campus and Patterson and other school officials asked her not to report it to the police.
Patterson's tyrannical management practices also showed up when he fired and cut off aid to a graduate student who had retweeted an opinion piece critical of the president.
And, as BB said, enrollment is down and the seminary is blowing the budget.
He is correct, some women should stay with an abusive husband.Apparently, there was a blog - about Patteson saying some women should stay with an abusive husband.

I did not realize the date of the blog.
But that's not what he said. He said a women should NOT stay with an abusive husband. She should leave him but not divorce him.He is correct, some women should stay with an abusive husband.
Yes, stay married to.But that's not what he said. He said a women should NOT stay with an abusive husband. She should leave him but not divorce him.
"According to the woman." If I had believed everything told me by "victims" in my Police career, scores of innocent people would be in prison.Yes, they asked her not to report it, according to the woman.
Sure, you don't have an absolute right, but it looks bad when you can a low-level grad assistant for disagreeing with The Man.
Besides, he wasn't criticizing his employer; he was criticizing Patterson who, though an exalted poobah, doesn't have the right to fire someone on a whim; even he has to follow policies and procedures. The seminary trustees decided that the grad student hadn't violated procedures.
The head of an institution is the indirect employer of all employees. No, the president is not his employer. It is the seminary. And great man though Patterson may be, he is not dictator and has to follow the rules.
Caring about property managing God's work is a spiritual enterprise. They obviously just care about money.
