I was not in the trustee meeting, but I’m pretty sure that these hand-picked SBC trustees did not have issues with, as you call it, “male headship.”

I think you’ve got it all wrong. Are you a member of the SWBTS community? Are you a Southern Baptist? Do you know anyone at the seminary? Doesn’t sound like it.
The pressure was from inside their ranks and the larger SBC community.
Hard to have the blessing of the Lord when you deny Him!
They might not have, but many feminine groups did!

They obviously just care about money.
I certainly don't agree with everything Paige Patterson says and does, but in this case I will have to come to his defense.
He wrote that blog 18 years ago. And he said a woman who is being abused should not divorce her husband, but would be in the right to leave him (and, presumably, let him divorce her). That is not an altogether wrong stance to take. I may not agree but I can see his point.
As Dr. Patterson believes any divorce apart from the cause of adultery is not biblical, what else could he say and remain true to his Lord?
And, I can't help but think an 18 year old blog statement is not the real issue, but rather is the excuse being used by the anti-Patterson people to nudge him out of the Presidency. He has always been a divisive figure due to his ultra conservative stance and his outspoken manner.

More serious is the allegation by a former Southeastern student that she was raped on campus and Patterson and other school officials asked her not to report it to the police.
Patterson's tyrannical management practices also showed up when he fired and cut off aid to a graduate student who had retweeted an opinion piece critical of the president.
And, as BB said, enrollment is down and the seminary is blowing the budget.

But that's not what he said. He said a women should NOT stay with an abusive husband. She should leave him but not divorce him.

Caring about property managing God's work is a spiritual enterprise.
When the school has trouble paying its bills without raiding its endowment, when they are laying off staff, and when full time student populations are dwindling down to unprecedented low levels, the school may not exist in a few years.
The trustees are supposed to look after the interests of the school. That is their "trust."
When Patterson arrived, he "celebrated" the end of declining enrollment of full time students and declared the school to be on its way to 6,000 students (6,000 FTE).
Instead, the school has been going the other direction and has dropped about 33% from the time Patterson came in, from 2,072 FTE to 1,393 FTE in 2017-2018.
