Palin's prayer remark angers former staffers

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Some of Sarah Palin's former campaign aides are frustrated with the Alaska governor for remarking in a lengthy, freewheeling speech that she had refused to pray with them before last October's vice presidential debate.

Palin told the story in a speech to a GOP dinner in Alaska last Friday.

"So I'm looking around for somebody to pray with, I just need maybe a little help, maybe a little extra," she said of the moments before the debate. "And the McCain campaign, love 'em, you know, they're a lot of people around me, but nobody I could find that I wanted to hold hands with and pray."

The point was, there were folks there who were more than willing to pray with her but she chose not to pray with them. I guess they weren't good enough.

The McCain campaign pretty much ran on prayer since that was the only chance they had. :laugh:

Good. Why make a show of prayer, when scripture forbids it ? second, why join hands with the unregenerate, when scripture forbids it ?

Yeah? But your comments seem to indicate approval of the criticism without your acknowledging the essentials of agreement in prayer.


I think making an issue of SP and prayer is petty and gossipy, does nothing to benefit her, is not edifying to us, does nothing to strengthen the body of Christ and does nothing to glorify him: By our indulgence we reduce our selves and disable that power which should be driving our lives to the planes of secular pettiness on which the critics of Jesus thrive.

If in a room of Hindus and prayer is offered to any one of their gods I couldn't hold hands with then either. It is very Christian (Pauline) to not associate with those that are not, much less pray with them.

You betcha! Unlike threads saying the Obamas are trashing the White House, or that the President mispronounced a word, or that he is a Muslim, or that he is not a US Citizen, or that he is forbidding people from going to Church, etc. etc.

Christ never said to stay in Christian ghettoes. Right? How are you going to witness to others if you will not associate with them.

Some of the McCain staffers might have been pro abortion. Something that Sarah felt very strongly about. There had to be reasons for her not to pray with them. Again, I am very choosy about with whom I'll pray with. Not that I will not pray with a repentant sinner.

If you did not understand Bro Curtis' statement then you would not understand my answer. Preaching and delivering the Gospel does not mean having to participate in a Hindu's house of worship or pray with them.

How are we going to go into all the world carrying the news of Christ to the unsaved if we are not going to associate with unbelievers? To refuse to associate with unbelievers is to disobey Christ's command.

How can you preach to them if you will not associate with them? What would you do, preach and leave, refuse to shake their hand, refuse to eat with them, refuse to show you have any real interest in them. What kind of Christ-like love does that show anyone?

Why would they listen to you or anyone at all if you will not see them of enough worth to associate with them?
