I have a concealed carry permit, as well as a number of other members of our church, including our pastor.
The reason why I know about other members is that our church has sponsored several CCP courses taught by a certified trainer. These were well attended by both men and women in our church and local community.
Crime rates would go down even more, if instead of assuming most people are unarmed, the premise were to change to assuming most people can adequately defend themselves.
Wonder what the percentage of those killed accidently would be compared to those killed by criminals who presume that non-criminals are unarmed. Yes, I'm sure the percentage would go up if the general public were armed. However, I'm comfortably sure the total death rate would go down. In a sense, who cares if the accidental percentage rises 200% if there are actually 200 fewer deaths?
