Then why would I be asking, I’m not a Bible scholar… I’m a sinner who the HS said to come to Christ. But I’m a searcher for truth… so I plod on, dig deep in search for the truth. Apparently you don’t know yourself so you demand answers… why because your a Christian. Yes I am also…so what, like I said, I’m a believer but I’m not a Bible scholar. And I question everything… everything in my quest for truth.
Then seek God's Word for your answers. You don't need to be a 'Bible scholar'. 2 Tim 2:15, Joshua 1:8, Psalm 119:105, 2 Tim 3:16-17. You just need to put in the work.
So what’s your story, are you one of the elite know it all Bible thumpers
Nope. Constantly seeking and learning from God's Word.
who demands loyalty to a book?
Just a book? That says a lot. SMH Now I see where you are coming from.
I’m not there with you… like I said, I’m a sinner in need of Christ.
As we all are.
And I just lost my wife to cancer… I’m 40 years with this women, 15 or more desperately fighting this in the hope of having her remain alive & in my life… so where are all those prayers for help and were all those prayers for nothing? Did he not hear my prayers? They seem ineffective in retrospect!
Yes I know you lost your wife. Sorry to hear that.
Maybe I’m venting but He has left me devistated and a emotional wreck.
It's ok to vent.
Will I pull it together… watch me. And I hope you don’t have to experience this ( grief) … so now I’m going to question and question and question. I will get off the floor and learn to deal with this hurt and be the wiser for it. What it’s taught me bottom line is to question everything… I’m now a zealot for truth. So yeah, I’m one of those guys and that’s how G-D made me… ever watch “Man Of La Mancha” that character speaks of Fight of Determination of Not Giving Up… the willingness to charge into hell for a heavenly cause. That’s me.Smile.
I will pray you find your answers. I find my answers in God's Word. Not preaching, just giving you where I find my strength. My wife and I have been dealing with an issue with one of our daughters for over 15 years. It's not always easy. But, God is our comfort and strength.

My sister was made a Cerebral Palsy by an immunization shot that distroyed her brainstem at two years old. She lived till she was 39 and my mother took care of her every day till her death. Shortly after that, my mother died from pancreatic cancer. The family prayed for miricals that never happened. All 3 of my uncles died within 2 years of my fathers passing at 39 YO… living my mother and my aunts widows with families to feed. Both a cousin that was like a brother and my uncle, also like a brother died young … one from a stroke and one from pancreatic cancer… each leaving families that needed them. Oh and then another cousin died at 44 yo around Christmas a few years ago. This was a praying Christian family, my cousin was a pastor, all church goers. Ahh, so you tell me to study scriptures, you tell me you will pray for me, actually please don’t… I don’t want your prayers & don’t need them, but I will tell you what, I will pray for your daughter just as I pray for Deacons granddaughter and another friend who is going through his wife’s cancer situation. Maybe He will listen and intercede and a miraculous healing will occur. Yea, wouldn’t that be glorious.

But as for me, well I’m not praying for any intersession for myself, we are now past that stage. However I will study and probe Bible Christianity with particular interest in Jesus teaching. I believe he got most of it right. Right now and in the future I’m concentrating on the Sermon on the Mount… but as for the rest of the Bible… unless the spirit moves me which he hasn’t… but tell me, do you persieve Jesus to be a realist or do you see him as an idealist? Think on it for a while before answering.

No need to think awhile. I see Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
It has been my mistake. I thought I was having an exchange with fellow Christian. Maybe someday.

Maybe not your type of Christian however I believe in Christ… but I do not trust a Christian who are self serving and you are clearly that plus plus. And because you can’t even answer my question ( not even putting in an effort as your fond of saying ) it’s best we don’t talk again…not someday, let’s make it never ever. Forthwith I will block you from any further interaction.

What about Christ do you believe?

Self-serving? You'll need to back up that accusation. But won't.
And because you can’t even answer my question ( not even putting in an effort as your fond of saying )
I answered your question, you did not like the answer.
it’s best we don’t talk again…not someday, let’s make it never ever.
That won't be a problem. I have much better things to do. It seems my answers have touched a nerve. Some people just don't like it when they have been challenged and so they run.
Forthwith I will block you from any further interaction.
And the running is final.

They are there to teach us how sinful we are. The Ten Commandments don't save anyone. They aren't the way to heaven. Why? Because no one can keep them. The Bible is clear on that. James 2:10

So if we are saved by the grace of God and the death/resurrection of Christ alone, why are there 10 commandments?

They are there to expose our sin. To remind us that we CANNOT behave, CANNOT be perfect, CANNOT earn our way to heaven. We should try to be moral and try to obey them because it's the standard of God's holiness. But they are impossible to keep perfectly.

Read the story in Matthew 19 of the young man who came to Jesus and wanted to have "eternal life". He wanted to know what to "do". Jesus knew what was in his heart - a "to-do" list of behaviors to get him into heaven. He wanted to know how to EARN his way into heaven. So Jesus started with the 10 Commandments.

The young man claimed he had kept them all. That was a blanket lie. Ergo, he had NOT kept them. But he thought himself pure and Godly.

So Jesus goes into other behaviors. He begins with self-centeredness and asked the young man to go and sell all he has and to follow him.

The young man was too attached to his wealth in a greedy way and walked away from Jesus, saddened.

He found out he was not "good enough" to follow Christ. But he never learned that no one is!! Hence, the need for grace!!! We may sincerely desire to obey ALL TEN of the commandments, but it is sincerely impossible.

The purpose of the 10 Commandments is to expose our sinfulness and need for Christ.
No one can keep them ? That is such an out to allow sin. I believe some people obeying the rules in light of being allowed that out makes the rules void. When the naked lady demands sex from the married man he does not have the out of saying every one disobeys this rule.

You didn't understand a word I said. If we could keep the law, then why was there a need for Jesus?

I did not say that because some people disobey the law that everyone can as you are claiming that I said. I don't even understand how you got that from what I said.

I said, as the BIBLE says in Galatians 3:11, that we, as a people, cannot keep the law. And, as the Bible says, if you break one, you've broken them all. James 2:10

Maybe you've never murdered anyone, but have you told a lie? Have you deeply desired what someone else has? Have you ever used God's name in vain? Then you've broken the whole list - so says the Bible in James 2:10.

The Bible says that "there is none good - no not one." Romans 3:10-12 None means none. And that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 All means all.

If we could all keep the law, then THAT would let us in to heaven. The Bible says we can't. So we all need Jesus.

The only thing the Law does according to the Bible is to teach us what sin is. And prove that we are sinners. Romans 3:20.

We should TRY to keep the commandments of God. And after we are saved, the Holy Spirit helps us.

I do wish you would read the actual Bible and not books that claim they know what the Bible says.

You would do well to find a good teacher to help you understand scripture. Scarlett O has given you the biblical understanding of the purpose of the law and its relationship to Christianity and salvation.

Those that follow the teachings of Jesus do not say, “oh now I’m saved I can sin all a want!”

They say, “Jesus is my Lord, I don’t want to sin anymore. I desire to follow the commands of my Lord”.

And what’s with this constant focus on women wanting to engage in s:x? Clear your mind of all filthiness!! Focus on Jesus and you won’t have to worry what women are doing, or men for that matter.

Peace to you
