You contradict yourself. You say higher tax rates keep us from being a third world country, but the more intervention we see, the more homeless we create.

I would say that I never considered moving into a cardboard shack, and I have lost several jobs. Crisis creates opportunity. People who give up and hold out their hand deserve to live in welfare ghettos.
I would rather build myself a cardboard hut and live free, than to be moved into govt housing dependent and enslaved to govt.

Don't you see, it is the redistribution of wealth that keeps us from looking like a third world country.

Hmm...that means that there are no socialist or marxist countries, then, that are third world countries...right?

Just curious: when you paint yourself into a corner, do you use latex, or oil-based? :tongue3:

Only higher taxes on those who have and refuse to distribute willingly. If they would distribute willfully via jobs or other dignified means one can earn a living then welfare wouldn't be necessary.

Look, when I see a CEO get a $20 Mil bonus I think of all the workers that company could have employed at say $20K/yr. Instead, they chose not to hire American workers but instead hire cheap foreign labor which is why they earned the big bonus. Because of that we have large numbers of unemployment that is growing by the day. So we don't look third world, we end up taking from those who got the big bonuses and give to those who got laid off. Now if the CEO had of kept the jobs here we wouldn't have to raise his taxes to pay for the people whose jobs he sent overseas to make a bigger bonus.

Third world country...where do libs get these things? :BangHead: Maybe they should actually visit a third world country before opening their mouths. Just plain stupid.
There is a vast difference between being a liberal and just not understanding how our country or economy works.

How many third world countries have you been to and how long have you been there?

What service to this nation gives you the right to carry an upside down flag?

Since you seem so worried about redistribution of wealth, how much tax do you pay out of your gross income to the federal, state, social security, and medicare compared to the average working American?

Phrases like "just plain stupid" sometimes come back to haunt you.

I think it is you who is swimming against the stream, this country has a system of welfare that takes care of the unfortunate parts of society. It is those who oppose it that are not understanding how this countries economics work.

I do not recall ever saying that I opposed helping the needy either through government or the church. I personally would never take a penny of it, and would live in the wild before putting myself in such a state.

I was trying to point out to the other poster that his constant crusade against those needng help requires more understanding than just calling everything a liberal, when he has little experience with this subject.

You are right. Though not opposed to helping others, I am very opposed to me being helped in such a manner, and in fact, am very conservative.

Maybe you liberals shouldn't make it so hard to start a business. If I could, I'd move my business somewhere I wouldn't have to worry about prohibitive EPA standards, mandatory sexual harassment training, ADA standards that have ZERO to do with my business, etc....

Like I said, when you make it impossible for Americans to go into business for themselves, you reap what you sew.

Curtis, I must say, I am surprised. After the excoriating you gave me over my pet names for Mr. Limbaugh and Ms. Coulter, you go and do the same thing regarding our new president. Is this a case of it's okay if you are on the right but not on the left?

Who is Pelosi? I gather she is a woman. I gather she is now speaker of something. Where is she from? Is this the one who was running for vice-president?

Cheers,

Jim

Speaker of the house of representatives. She runs the House side of Congress.

She is a Democrat which is why she isn't liked in these parts.

That is not the reason. It's because she is insane and has no business being in any leadership position.
