Gerhard, it does not apply becaus that is not what I am doing. Why don't you try and find out what it is I am doing, since I have only told you and DHK and everyone else what my point really is since the first page of this thread. Surely one of you will be able to figure out my point, rather than continuing this childish litany of misdirections and false accusations.

Ooooooookay, since Gerhard chickened out, I'll go ahead and complete my thought.

Here's what tells the world at large that we are Christians: it isn't our flawless grasp of orthodox doctrine, or our sanctified speech patterns, or even how wet we get when we're baptized. You know what Jesus said the proof to the world of our faith is???

You can find it in John, Chapter 13, verses 34 and 35:

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

See, this has been my point all along. You cannot prove your holiness and your fellowship with the Everlasting by telling stupid jokes at some other person's expense, even if you think that other person is in error. It simply is not possible. The joke that originated this thread is not funny and remains an embarassment. I am aghast that Christians can not only tell these jokes on one another, but can defend them in the vilest of terms.

Simple concept: if I really love you, I am going to be troubled when you make mistakes, and I am going to do my best to help you correct those mistakes. Those who both made the joke and who are defending it through misdirection and personal insult are not only not showing the love of Christ to others, they are proving, according to 1 John 4:20, that they do not love God.

I fully expect DHK to delete this post and lock the thread. I can only hope it's read before it's supressed.

**untangled, I was referring to the fact that it has been said, on this BB, that I, as a believer in one God, don't have the true Spirit of God. What I've been told is that what I have, "Is not of God." The only difference in the terminology is that I said it in a kinder way.

When I told *atestring* that God wasn't going to let any harm come to Pentecostals is because they have the Spirit of God and not of another. That is what I meant.

Oh, yes, I have been told that I belong to a 'cult' and that I don't believe that Jesus is God. BTW, which is not the truth, only a man's opinion.

I don't know about all Christians and what they have, according to the Spirit. That's between them and God, but I do know what I believe.

Sorry about this post..this board is messed up.

He is the bloke who brandished her with falsehoods. Have you read her defense?

In any case what she says here, I have myself and independently come to the same conclusion.

The false doctrine of the New Age Versions all have in common a denial of Jesus' Divinity, like in the New Reformation movement (at the moment rampant in SA) and in ecumenical movements of the day. Tolerance, which in the end puts Jesus on a par with Budha and Mohammed.

But John says if anyone should not believe Jesus is God who has become Man, he is "anti-christ" - not even using ridicule, but straight forward condemnation.

Well, I am letting the word speak for itself, but so far I've been accused of being Oneness myself, of defending a false religion, of attacking a moderator... everything but the thing I have been trying to do. It gets tedious after a couple of pages of that.

I challenge anyone to explain to me how a person who is unfamiliar with Christianity can logically differentiate between the theology of DHK, the av1611 guy, me, and MEE. To the casual observer who, say, just came by BaptistBoard because he is curious about Christianity, knows Baptists are arguably Christian, and clicked on a Google link, we are fighting and bickering amongst ourselves. It doesn'tmatter to this observer what your understanding of the nature of God or baptism or infilling of the Holy Spirit is, only that Christianity either is or is not the Truth... as evidenced by the actions of its adherents.

I have to say that, were I not convinced of the truth of my own faith in Jesus Christ as the only way to God, some of you would make me drop the whole thing. There is more vitriol, more stiff-necked Phariseeism, more utter contempt for others on this board than I have seen in any three athiesm boards combined.

Idolatry it is, in the worst of forms; where a person makes his core doctrines of more importance than his God, and replaces the latter with the former to his or her own destruction.

I continue to try and make this point because most of you people embarass me.

Your faith is not in your hands. The author of your faith is hopefully Jesus Christ and he will not allow you out of his hands. If you would abandon your faith so easily, then I would argue that it is not a true faith and was not of God.

I have been on several atheist boards and I promise you, to say that we are on a level with them or worse is to say that America is worse than Saddam. The salvation of the lost has everything to do with how we treat one another. Please refer to 1 John 4:20, Joseph. How we treat one another has everything to do with our faith in God.
