Read Acts 9:4 & Revelation 1:17a are the two that I am reminded of--off the top of my head.

Those who condemn the work of the Holy Spirit are on very dangerous ground. We are warned against 'grieving the Holy Spirit or quenching the Spirit of God.'

And the Jesuit spin is about the most absurd thing I have ever read. Rev. Hinn was Jewish by nationality before he got saved. Your mind is overworking . . . . Now you want us to believe that the Roman Catholich Church has planted him within Protestantism. Wow!! And maybe Ben Laden is an Russian Orthodox priest. You probably will buy this too!
I don't know about Hinn being a Roman Catholic, but I think it is funny when you say "before he got saved". I am not to judge, but with all of the false doctrine he preaches---well, you will know them by their fruit and knocking people on the ground is NOT fruit.

Problem.

Joel 2:28 has something to say about women of God. And since some will not take time to look it up I will place it before you.

'And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and DAUGHTERS shall prophecy . . . '

How many S.S. teachers have you sat under who were teaching the Word of God? In the later years of the 19th century millions of women taught and preached the Word in third world countries, plus offer some medical according to their abilities. Women missionaries was very normal in many denominations.

Also, I remember that one of the prophets had daughters who could prophesy/preach.

Being anti-women is sometimes visible in fundamentalist churches, which is not good since the Lord said in Christ there is neither male or female. Romans 2:11 gives a real clue as to the impartiality of the Lord in all things.

God uses men and women who are open to Him especially including the Holy Spirit. Pastor Benny Hinn has often preached where I heard him on T.V. I never noticed the least bit of unorthodoxy.

Perhaps some hold it against him because he more Arminian that they would like.

As I said before, blessing people when they fall under the power of the Spirit is not a negative thing. I am most sure that all who experience being 'slain in the Spirit' are not always healed of a physical condition. It is simply the Lord's wonderful blessing on His people.

Until you have greater drawings to your ministries I don't think you have any Biblical reason to discount his love for the Lord.

He may take more money from his ministry for personal things, than I think wise as to stewardship of the Lord's money, but I cannot limit what he uses for his own life style. I am sure the Lord will deal with him here or at the Judgment Seat of Christ.

I do not speak with tongues and yet once in Bible College I was 'slain in the Spirit.' I was simply praying and had nothing to do with it. I view this as a special blessing coming from the Lord God as did Saul [Acts 9:4 & the Apostle John in Revelation 1:17].

Churches and people who love their doctrine and denomination more than they should may not ever experience the deeper things in the Holy Spirit.

Why would "passing out" be a gift?

Its mass hypnosis, plain and simple. Besides being a false prophet (which invalidates his capabilities) he claims it is God, but just watch how he implies a lot of credit to himself. Just look at the way he bounces on the stage like a rock-star. Its SHOW-TIME!!!

Paul spoke out against tongues and pentecostals use THAT same scripture to base a MAJOR portion of their doctrine.

The church of Corinth was misusing the gifts so Paul put the tough restrictions on it shown above.

Although I don't believe it would happen today, if there is tongues practiced, it would be the exact same way it was in the New Testament, it would be so a person could understand in their own language.

The verse below is often pulled out of context to indicate that speaking in tongues is a heavenly language, but read it all in context and you can see Paul is just making a statement:
without love no gift is any good. Plus, it also explains itself by saying "I am noisy gong or a clanging cymbal." In other words, nobody can understand him; so it is worthless. Without somebody understanding in a different language there is no need for tongues. Otherwise, if you could talk in Spanish without knowing it, but there were no Spanish listeners in the audience, then you would be self-edifying--does that sound familiar?

1Co 13:1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
1Co 13:2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

I watched Benny Hinn in south america preach and he had someone there translating his english to spanish.If the gift of tounges was still around why did he need a person there to speak spanish for him. The gift of tounges would have enabled him to be understood by the audiance no matter what laungage they or he spoke.

Benny Hinn has lied on national T.V. several times. A lier will have no part in the Kingdom of God.

What does prophecy have to do with being a leader in the church in neither grants nor denies leadership authority.

Christ is the head of the church as man is the head of woman. As the Church is subject to Christs authority so is a woman subject to her husbands. Woman was made from man for man by God. A woman can not nor should they have Leadership over her husband or another man.

That doesnt mean you treat women and/or you wife like a slave a woman is to be loved as Christ loves the Church. Man is not the Head of Christ. How could woman be the Head of man. It goes against Gods very nature and order of life.

I use to think differant then I really got into the word. I am still amazed at what I didnt see because of my own ungodly beliefs and thoughts.
We must first admit these things to our own heart you cant convience someone else when your own heart denies the lies you tell it.

The gift on tongues in the N.T. was spoken in the congregation with an 'interpretation of tongues' by another person in the assembly.

Then there is a different kind of tongues that is used just for personal adoration of the Lord.

Tongues has nothing to do with understanding a foreign language; this is way off the mark.

Being touched by the Spirit of God is more of a blessing than what people normally think of as a gift from God. When we become intimate with Him; He comes closer to us.

A lot of false doctrines are preached from pulpits because of people learning Calvinism or Arminianism.

So to say Pastor Hinn has been proven to preach wrong things is foolishness.

Those who preach the first four points of Calvinism are preaching heresy also.

So it depends on which theological understanding you have learned or been taught.

What does that mean???

Tongues has nothing to do with understanding a foreign language; this is way off the mark.

These utterances were always heard in the language of someone present.

Being touched by the Spirit of God is more of a blessing than what people normally think of as a gift from God. When we become intimate with Him; He comes closer to us.

I don't know what you mean here, and I don't see it's relationship to this issue.

Read Acts Brother Ray Berrian
Really read it Brother.

Show me proof of your statement. I have never know anyone outside of the pentacost faith to speak in tounges. Never in 26 years of living Never. I know the Holy Spirit works in my life.
The Holy Spirit works in all True Christians.

Benny Hinn has falsely prophesied on TBN on more than one occasion that makes him a liar and the truth is not in him.

Orlando Christian Center, Dec. 31st, 1989.

"The Spirit tells me - Fidel Castro will die - in the 90's. Oooh my! Some will try to kill him and they will not succeed. But there will come a change in his physical health, and he will not stay in power, and Cuba will be visited of God."

- Benny Hinn

Orlando Christian Center, Dec. 31st, 1989.

"The Lord also tells me to tell you in the mid 90's, about '94-'95, no later than that, God will destroy the homosexual community of America. [audience applauds] But He will not destroy it - with what many minds have thought Him to be, He will destroy it with fire. And many will turn and be saved, and many will rebel and be destroyed."

- Benny Hinn.

Note that Benny Hinn claimed that God revealed the above prophecies to him. Now either God has erred, or Benny Hinn invented these prophecies and he never heard from God. The truth should be obvious - Benny Hinn does not hear from God, he is without doubt a false prophet.

Jer 14:14 Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.

Ezek 13:2 [NIV] "Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination: 'Hear the word of the LORD!
Ezek 13:3 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing!
Ezek 13:4 Your prophets, O Israel, are like jackals among ruins.
Ezek 13:5 You have not gone up to the breaks in the wall to repair it for the house of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the LORD.
Ezek 13:6 Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. They say, "The LORD declares," when the LORD has not sent them; yet they expect their words to be fulfilled.
Ezek 13:7 Have you not seen false visions and uttered lying divinations when you say, "The LORD declares," though I have not spoken?
Ezek 13:8 "'Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Because of your false words and lying visions, I am against you, declares the Sovereign LORD.
Ezek 13:9 My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.

Now with that kind of record for Benny Hinn, Trinity Broadcasting Network began its Spring 2000 fundraising Praise-A-Thon with some rather astounding claims. On the April 2nd TBN program, Benny Hinn claimed that God is about to make a major move to anoint the people of God, as soon as Israel signs a treaty with the ailing Hafez Al-Assad* of Syria, which will likely be within the next year. This will signal the impending large scale shift of financial wealth from the wicked to those obedient to God. But, in order to benefit from this unprecedented supernatural anointing, you must be obedient to God and sow your financial seed (to TBN) now!

[Edited out large amounts of text. Sorry Rev. Lowery but the BB has rules against making huge posts and taking up bandwidth. If you want to post more of this type material you must narrow it down and/or post links to where the same material can be found on the Internet.

hillclimber,

I do not have the gift of tongues, but I Corinthians 14:1 tells us to SEEK spiritual gifts.

In verse 2 Paul speaks of his personal adoration of the Lord by praying in his devotional prayer life to God. This is what I meant.

In an Assembly of God church for example, someone speaks in tongues and no one understands the tongue but the one who has the gift of 'interpretation of tongues.' It is interpreted as an edification to the congregation and is always uplifting. And I can hear someone say, "How do we know this is from the Lord God?" We know because the interpretation is never, never in conflict with the Word of God, the Bible.

In verse 5 Paul says in effect, I wish you all could speak in tongues.

Verse 14 indicates that they person in his or her personal prayer life speaks in tongues but himself does not understand what he is saying to God. People who have this gift suggest that you really sense that your prayers have reached the throne of God.

In verse 18 Paul says that he speaks in tongues more than perhaps any of the saints.

Paul in I Corinthians 12 and 14 merely wanted to correct the confusion connected with the gift of tongues.

He indicates that if we do not have a true love to the Lord and to the brethren, even though we might have the gift of tongues, we are nothing in the eyes of the Lord. Love must be our chief concern in this life which is love toward Jesus and His people.

How am I doing Tammy?

Chapters 13 and 14 are important regarding the purpose and continuance of the sign gifts which were in play during the transition from the Messianic period to the age of grace, in which we abide today. It’s clear from 14:21, 22 that these were signs to Israel, (Israel required a sign) and from 13: 8-11 that these were temporary and would pass away once their purpose was fulfilled. All during the Acts period God was still preserving Israel as a nation, and the sign gifts continued. The “all day long” of Rom. 10:21 ended with the destruction of Jerusalem, and since that time there has been no place or purpose for the sign gifts.

To Hill climber, P-nut and Phillip,
.If your nasty comments were all you could come up with then rasberrys to you too!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
To Ed, who actually asked a question.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pentecostal means someone who believes that the gift of tongues, as spoken of in the NT are still in effect today.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But when people hear the word Penecostal, they immediately think of the oneness doctrine(when we get to heaven, there will only be one divine being there), or they think of the UPC (the speak out loud in tongues so someone can hear you, or you won't go to heaven people).
I do not believe in those things so do not want the label!
I prefer Full Gospel because I believe that the things that happened in the NT can still happen today. I believe all the gospel(good news) is alive and well.
I also will offer no scripture, because all of you know full well our scriptures to back up what we believe. No use using up band space with things that have been posted thousands of times already and some will not believe and only argue about.
Working for Jeus,
Tam
