People Make Me Sick

I don't agree. Most of the best schools are affiliated with a church. I made sure Jesus was at the core of all we did, and we had a tremendous school and ministry. Granted there are bad situations, like the one HAMel mentioned. But, with the right leadership and staff, it is an extention of the church ministry, and more importantly, one more tool through which the church can reach the community for Christ.

I just don't see it. The politics of how a church closely tied school operate just like the politics on this board. And that's all that needs to be said. And like on this board, folks think they are doing a good thing and they are only helping evil to prosper with unGodlike behavior.

If you are a Pastor, then Pastor.

This whole thread could have been summarized by the statement:

"Jesus is cool, but I don't like his fan club."

You specifically asked for people's opinion on the matter:

"all those in favor raise your right hand and I'll stand corrected"

and then you mock us for giving the opinion you asked for. Who needs to get a grip here?

Thank you for "Wadding" back in Matt. I suppose that from the above you and two other are of the same opinion. Like in, "Me, Myself and I" think..., therefore it's an absolute fact?

...hey, it's not my fault folks like you and your kind are wrapped up in your on conceit. You want an applause?

Whatever man...it just seems you are looking for an argument.

You asked for other people to chime in and even said that you would stand corrected. Other people chimed in (4 people have agreed that it is using the Lord's name in vain) and instead of standing corrected you make childish remarks and accusations of people being conceited.

It really is simple...if you didn't want others to chime in...don't ask for them to do it! I, for one, wouldn't have ever posted about it had you not asked for people to "raise their right hand".

My pastor husband was also a certified teacher. I never wanted him to teach in a Christian school that was run by one church. The church would own your private life as well as your employment.

Hamel, I would add that your antagonism as shown in this thread causes me to wonder to what extent your personal perception and bitterness played in what is described in the OP. It is obvious that you have a chip on your arm.

As for the insulting use of Our Lord's Name, let the Mods deal with it.

My advice for your daughter is to get a higher education if she needs it and go teach in a public school.

You know what, Rolf..., some people just make me sick. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. So am I.

Quite frankly, the mods can do as they so decide as they do what they do for the owners and I'm sure they have their marching orders.

The phrase in question here was specifically directed to God Himself. He is the GREAT I AM.

...I just read on yahoo where the FCC has decided that internet trolls must register no later than 1 Jan 2015. Has something to do with Homeland Security, so the article said. Who knows?

I think I also read somewhere that the FCC was going to require an intelligence test to keep all the idiots off the Internet. Be glad when that one takes place! :)

I will say my peace and be done with you. Frankly, you were wrong. Scripture, Exodus 20:7, speaks to this.

Again, Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. -Exodus 20:7.

I would be interested in the scores of a few people on this site.

I just don't see it.

Unfortunately, when it comes to you, there is a lot you can't, don't and won't see. Could it be that you are spiritually blinded by the heavenly glow of your own spiritual ego shining brightly in your eyes?

Didn't see the whole name in vain thing, but the comments afterwards are hilarious.

I'm with you go2...., perhaps it's a lack of ability in coordinating an original thought? Some folks could get a job in a charm school..., as a bad example with no questions asked and then boast about their employment. Perhaps a mental handicap. An unhealthy desire toward soap operas. They don't go out without wearing a hockey helmet. Legends in their own minds. Otherwise, it's just foolishness.

I do suspect however the root cause of the Side Bar created in this thread was not based on fact but rather, just an attempt to hiJack and divert attention elsewhere. Some should do a word study on "vain".

In the aftermath..., several hundred views..., response from only a handful. That, is somewhat disheartening.

Well, gotta go. Another new day.

For those of you who can't read, who are posting on this thread:

1.The Scripture doesn't say 'Thou shalt not USE the Lord's name in vain'.
The Scripture doesn't say 'Thou shalt not SAY the Lord's name in vain'.
It says :'Thou shalt not TAKE the name of the LORD thy God in vain.'

2. 'Take' and 'say' are not synonyms, in anyone's thesaurus.

3. My wife 'took' my name, when she married me. She submitted to my authority. She depends on me to provide for her.

4. The LORD's name is Jehovah.
In English:"Providence".

Pro 30:7-9
7 Two things have I required of thee;
deny me them not before I die:
8 Remove far from me vanity and lies:
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with food convenient for me:
9 Lest I be full, and deny thee,
and say, Who is the Lord?
or lest I be poor, and steal,
and take the name of my God in vain.

If my wife didn't live with me, or obey me, or trust me for provision, she has taken my name in vain.

For a Christian to steal, is to say the Jehovah, 'He who sees and Provides', is not actually the provider. This would be taking the Lord's name in vain.

1Co 15:2
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

1Co 15:12-14
12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:
14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

Stop with the Catholic redifining of terms already.

From Merriam-Webster, listed under the definitions of Take:

— take in vain

: to use (a name) profanely or without proper respect
