Pete Buttigie Presidential Candidate, what is a Christian to do?

Mayor Pete, who is now out of office, was elected with a vote total of 8,500 votes in a city of 100,000 or so. He's not much account. We Hoosiers are just a bunch of hicks. He could not win Indiana if he were to be nominated by the Dems. The Wall Street Journal around 10 years ago said that South Bend was losing population and was a dying city. Since then people moved there to get out of Chicago, Gary, and Detroit. South Bend gets lake effect snow and has a very severe winter much like Buffalo, New York.

Interesting facts here about Buttigieg & other favorites.

Another peculiarity in the military record of the former Mayor of South Bend is that he did a very short tour of duty in Afghanistan. He must be some sort of a special operative in the Navy. I think I read somewhere that his father was a communist. Do you have any information on that?

Yes, I'm quite familiar with John 17. I've taught it many times. It's Christ's great priestly prayer. He knows he is about to depart this earth and he is praying for himself and for those believers he is leaving behind. And - he prays for us as believers. It's a great intercessory prayer for believers. And you have taken it out of context to say that Jesus meant we should not pray for lost people.

This prayer does not mean that we are not to pray for the lost and for sinners entrenched in abomination. 1 Timothy 2 says that we should pray for all people.

And Jesus, himself, said in his great Sermon on the Mount that we are to pray for our enemies in Matthew.

Love Your Enemies

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be as your heavenly Father is perfect."

I have gay people in my life. I have all kinds of sinners in my life.

I'm not going to stop praying for their deliverance from sin. I'm not going to stop praying for their salvation. I'm not going to START treating them as enemies and hate on them.

I don't have to agree with their politics - and I don't

But I cannot toss prayer by the wayside when the Bible teaches otherwise.
How does Pauline theology in Romans 1 regarding those who would flaunt their Homosexuality square with this then?

Your advice is contrary to the prayer Jesus made for Himself, His Disciples, AND His Church. Known as John chapter 17.

7) Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
8) For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from there, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
9) I pray for THEM: I PRAY NOT FOR THE WORLD, but for THEM which thou hast given me; for THEY are thine.
10) And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in THEM.
11) And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that THEY may be one, as we are.
12) While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scriptures might be fulfilled.
13) And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14) I have given them thy word; and the World hath hated them, because they are not of the World, even as I am not of the World.
15) I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the EVIL.
16) They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17) Sanctify them through thy truth: THY WORD IS TRUTH.
18) As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
19) And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through THE TRUTH.
20) NEITHER PRAY I FOR THESE ALONE, BUT FOR THEM ALSO WHICH SHALL BELIEVE ON ME through their word;
21) That they ALL may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

This mayor has repeatedly attacked Conservative Christians that hold tight to THE TRUTH. He is the face of the world.
How does Paul view of those advocating for homosexuality in Romans 1factor in here?

How does Paul view of those advocating for homosexuality in Romans 1factor in here?

It is the core of my stand. Romans 1 is clear that their rejection of God condemns them to what they are. These high profile perverts are not the misled, or the indoctrinated; they are the misleaders, the indoctrinators. They are God haters. They hold truth in unrighteousness, exactly as the scriptures says.

Those who are trying to get out of that sinful behavior do deserve our prayers and support, but those who are embolden and strident in this....

Are you and xisdraw, who likes your post, saying that God will not save sinners who cross the line and sin one time too many?

Yes, again, I am quite familiar with Romans 1 - God turns these sinners over to a reprobate mind and to shameful lusts.

In other words, if a person will not acknowledge God and burrows down in their sin, God will turn them over to that.

The list contains things like "disobedience to parents", "arrogance" and "boastfulness". Did you ever disobey your parents for a period of time - have you ever been boastful and arrogant for a period of time? Do you believe that teens who are disobedient to their parents should not be prayed for?

I've seen a lot on the Baptistboard in the 18 years I've been here. But this is the first time that I've seen people say that Christ said not to pray for sinners.

All I can say is thank God someone prayed for me.

I have a friend who left his wife of 25 years and married a man. It sickens me and burdens me to no end. But I will NOT...… WILL NOT stop praying for him/his husband nor any of the other homosexuals, disobedient children, arrogant, boastful people that I know.

If there are some people whom you believe should not be prayed for, how do YOU make that determination?

Is this a reformed thing?

So, therefore, we do not pray for them? They cannot be saved? Is this a reformed thing that I don't understand?

No, was just saying that God Himself defined for us how to treat and approach one caught up in any sinful practice... If claiming to be a Christian, as mayor pete does, then we need to examine his fruit to see if that seems to be true or not!

VERY pro homosexual/lesbian, very pro choice, pro muslim, against Israel, appointed liberal judges etc!
Well you will not eradicates them even though you believe you can. I’ve seen LGBT bathrooms in retail ie Target, in the hospital my wife had her cancer treatments and I had my heart bypass ie Atlantic Healthcare in NJ, and at a Baptist Church in NJ I once visited but did not return to. My point is that the LGBT agenda in the USA is already pervasive so what do you do?

Do not condone it, nor just accept it as being the new normal!
