Actually, unless you are a brainless robot, the answer is YES

You have the ability to make choices and actually read your Bible and do what it says.

and that was the very reason that God gave you the gift of a Brain.

The question is about works (because I am not going to turn this into a Calvinist Vs. Other debate). Do our works help us to be saved. Do we need to DO something besides believe in Jesus.

StandingfirminChrist: //I think the point is that all scriptue was given to perfect man.//

I think not. The scripture was given AND makes perfect men.
However, even complete, sir, you still sin. And as soon as
you hate me for being correct, you will commit the sin of
murder. Yet, Bro. I expect I'll see you in heaven.

Now, as soon as you are tortured for a few days, and
deny Jesus is your Christ, you become a Lapsi. Are
you going to heaven or hell?
BTW, the 9th and 10th persecutions in the
Roman Empire (early 4th century /304-308/ )
were so severe that THE LAPSI WROTE the history
of the church at that time.

StandingfirminChrist: // ... when one tries to say
murderers will be in heaven, ... //

Act 13:22 (KJV1611 Edition):
And when he had remoued him, hee raised vp vnto them Dauid
to be their king, to whom also he gaue testimonie,
and said, I haue found Dauid the sonne of Iesse,
a man after mine own heart
, which shal fulfill all my wil.

David was a murderer: He killed the husband of Bathsheba.
We will see King David in heaven.
Sorry, Bro. there will be murders in heaven.
Go refigure your verse you think says God can't
forgive murder.

Thats not what the Bible says

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

You know, honestly, I cannot imagine what you people actually DO when you come across these passages like this but they actually are THERE in the Bible... maybe you ought to try reading them?

James 2:
14: What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
15: If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16: And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17: Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18: Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19: Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20: But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21: Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22: Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23: And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24: Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

rbell and amy,

If I showed you in the Word of God that you were in sin and you did not repent but continued in that sin as if you were not shown that sin, would you still go to heaven?
Actually, I have been in this very place during the years I was not following the Lord even tho I had been saved. If I had died during that time I believe I would have gone to heaven because I had received Christ as my savior years before. Have you never gone through a period in your life when you were not serving the Lord? What if you had died during that time? What if the prodigal son had died before he decided to go home? Was he really a son or not? The father seemed to think he was his son even when he was rebelling.

knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
Galatians 2:16

Ed, WRONG!!!!

David is not a murderer. He repented, and God forave him. God cast his sins in the depths of the sea

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 'and such were some of you...' This implies they no longer are once they truly come to Christ and allow Him to do His perfect work in them.

DeeJay,
By your logic, that one can continue in sin and still make it into heave because they believe in Jesus, then my wife's late husband who died a drunkard is in heaven. This is in direct contradiction to scripture. 'No drunkard will inherit the Kingdom.'

Quit trying to justify sin in the name of my Savior!

dont mean to sound cruel but can any of you walk and chew gum at the same time?

faith without works is DEAD. Yes the Bible truly says that.

I have to go for a little bit, there is nothing that irks me more than this false easy-believism

you have got to tear out half your Bible to do it... and I just dont see how anyone can do that.

Neither does the Bible...

I sure hope and pray that you will accept Jesus as your Savior before you die... If not, your works are going to send you to Hell. If you do not trust FULLY in His finished work on Calvary, you are heading down the wide path to Hell along with every other false religion in the world that depends on works. Please ask God to show you how to trust Christ fully.

That may seem harsh, but I feel it is my duty to warn you or your eternal destiny if you continue to trust in your works.

And SFIC, why don't you answer the question about if you die with unconfessed sin in your life, will you go to Hell... At least the SDA did.

Are you afraid? SFIC, are you Baptist or SDA?

The key is having a Good Conscience before God when you die.

Thats about all there is to it.

Claudia

No so:

Rom 10:9 (KJV1611 Edition):
That if thou shalt confesse with thy mouth the Lord Iesus,
and shalt beleeue in thine heart,
that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saued.

you seem to be rewriting the scripture to:

That if thou shalt confesse with thy mouth the Lord Iesus,
and shalt beleeue in thine heart,
that God hath raised him from the dead, and have
a Good Conscience before God when you die

thou shalt be saued.

I dont know if your wifes late husband is a believer or not and neither do you. What I do know is that if sin keeps us out of heaven then not one of us will make it.

You are prideful, yet I believe you can be forgiven and make it to heaven.

I am not justifing sin. I am stating what the Bible says the Jesus' death overcame sin and we can be forgiven. Not one of us will be sinless on our own when we die.

You just dont think your sins are as bad as others. Maybe you think they are better hidden.

Claudia you have ignored the last several verses I have posted. Because you can not use them with your works based doctrine.

If he was saved, yes he is in Heaven..
Quit cheapening the Pure blood of my Savior... His Blood is strong enough to save without our help....
