http://america.aljazeera.com/articl...s-governments-to-open-hearts-to-migrants.html

While there were numerous news agencies reporting this story, let me say that I found it quite IRONIC to read this story covered by al Jazeera America.

Simple poll .... should the pope mind his business, or set an example by opening up all of Italy and Vatican City to refugees and illegals?

What would you tell the pope if you had a chance, regarding today's press conference and public prayer for America to open its heart and border. SURE he included Mexico in the prayer, but does Mexico have a problem opening it's borders to illegal Americans running south for a better life?

As long as he's willing to cut a check to pay for them all, then yeah, open up those borders.

The Pope really ought just to shut up unless he wants to see Trump win the nomination. He wants the country flooded with Mexicans and Syrians, I get it, but that's not a popular opinion in this country at all.

Except the Pope didn't say that.

"Go and tell them that injustice has infected their way of seeing the world," the Pope said, describing Jonah's mission to rouse the city of Nineveh from the morass of moral decay.

"Go and help them to understand that by the way they treat each other, ordering and organizing themselves, they are only creating death and destruction, suffering and oppression."

"Let us together ask our God for the gift of conversion, the gift of tears, let us ask him to give us open hearts like the Ninevites, open to his call heard in the suffering faces of countless men and women. No more death! No more exploitation!"

"Open hearts" but not a word about "open borders."

Behind the wall around Vatican City resides an enormous amount of priceless artifacts, gold silver and precious gems.

The possessions of the Catholic Church are surpassed by none on planet earth with treasures of Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vince, Raphael, Titian, Boticelli, Donatello and on and on...

Let the Pope sell the Sistine chapel and donate the trillion dollars to the poor before he starts lecturing us.

TCassidy, I suspect that you are soon to be relegated to RD's Ignore List. Seems to happen a lot to personer he cannot interact reasonably with.

I'm glad it is to some. Others seem to think it much more important to make their non-truth appear to be truthful so they they can support whatever point they are attempting to make.

You continue to describe yourself to a tee, when you try to bury another member for an opinion. Keep it up. Like a pane of glass, we can see clear through you.

Your grasp of the English language continues to be abysmal. That must be one heck of an editor you've got. ;)

Your jealousy is one more "green monster" that you are easily identified with. The other is "troll!" Could repentance is in your future?

No, however according to the article in the op he stopped just short of saying that.
So, are you saying that not saying something is the same as saying it?

Look at the title of the thread.

Pope pleads for open hearts and BORDERS between US and Mexico!

He even put BORDERS in all CAPS to emphasize it.

If I started a thread with the title "Revmitchell says he believes in Salvation by Grace through Faith AND THAT REGENERATION PRECEDES FAITH" would you defend that thread title by saying "Well, I didn't actually say that but it is still true because I stopped just short of saying it?"

I thought not. :)

Francis, the son of Italian immigrants to Argentina, had wanted to cross the border in solidarity with other migrants when he visited the U.S. last fall. That wasn't possible for logistical reasons, so he did the next best thing Wednesday by coming within a stone's throw of the fence to pray and lay a bouquet of flowers next to a large crucifix that is to remain at the site as a monument to his visit.

While migrant activists on both sides of the border cheered the gesture, Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump criticized it as a politicized and ill-informed move.

What's the Pope really saying here? He doesn't have to come right out say the words his message is plain enough, America open your borders!

Donald Trump "gets it" and so do the authors of this OP, even if they don't come right out and say the words.

Except when you responded to him you did not quote the part of the article that said "The pope all but said open borders". So we understand while the Pope did not directly say open borders it was understood by more than one person that was the spirit of what he said.

In case you are not aware there is a thing called "implication". That means you have said something without using the exact words. This is what exactly what the Pope did. He did not have to say open borders to imply it.

And this is the second time you, as an administrator, have been rude to him.

Further your example to me is just wrong.
