So why are you not preaching down at the cemetery?Only by the direct operation of the Holy Spirit can eternal life be brought to the dead sinner (John 3:6-8). The gospel brings life and immortality to light, but does not produce life (II Tim.1: 10).
The bible says the Gospel IS the power of God UNTO salvation.Only by the direct operation of the Holy Spirit can eternal life be brought to the dead sinner (John 3:6-8). The gospel brings life and immortality to light, but does not produce life (II Tim.1: 10).
The bible says the Gospel IS the power of God UNTO salvation to everyone who believes .
You would think it was used in every verse according to some .
Acts 13 ..context context context . ( keep reading principle also .)What is that context, Barry, if I may ask?
"* Elect" doesn't mean "chosen"?
* (of a person) chosen or singled out.
"one of the century's elect"
"* Ordained" doesn't mean "commissioned", "set forth", "appointed", etc?
* order or decree (something) officially.
"* Granted" does not mean "given"?
* agree to give or allow (something requested) to.
What does "called" mean to you?
"Summoned", as the dictionary says, or something else?
I'm also not sure how I became a "Calvinist", since all I was doing was reading the Scriptures one day and *click* I understood the words to mean exactly what they said on the page.
For example:
" And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed." ( Acts of the Apostles 13:48 ).
So, when I read this, I clearly saw that only as many as were ordained to eternal life, believed, and only those who were ordained to eternal life.
I'm also not sure how anybody could have difficulty believing what this says, as to me, it's quite simple and straightforward.
Note:
What I did not do, was read the Scriptures, come to something I didn't understand, and then find a commentary that I thought seemed right to me and plug that explanation in as my own personal definition of what I was having trouble with.
I do know of people who do that, but I never seemed to have this problem with the words themselves... only with trying to understand how it all fit together, which came to me gradually ( and still does, to an extent ) over the years.
The words on the page were all I that needed, sir.
Acts 13 ..context context context . ( keep reading principle also .)
46Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
so simply certain Jews ' judged them selves unworthy and some gentiles after hearing judged " hey I believe this " simple simple simple plain reading Notice some reject and some accept . That's all Acts 13 is saying. Without imposing Gnostic Augustines philosophy and just believe the text it's simple. .
After we believe and only then do we recieve .Only by the direct operation of the Holy Spirit can eternal life be brought to the dead sinner (John 3:6-8). The gospel brings life and immortality to light, but does not produce life (II Tim.1: 10).
And what of the work of the HS?The bible says the Gospel IS the power of God UNTO salvation.
That’s quite an arrogant comment. Do you want to retract it?So why are you not preaching down at the cemetery?
it's clearly to show how using ' dead ' the way calvernism uses it is not consistent. That’s quite an arrogant comment. Do you want to retract it?
So in other words you have to read and understand it prior to being saved, right. After we believe and only then do we recieve .
What do you mean ?And what of the work of the HS?
We have to hear the Gospel yes .So in other words you have to read and understand it prior to being saved, right.
Oh I get it, your issue is with Calvinism... so you blather. Got it. Well I for one am not a Calvinist, so put that in your pipe and smoke it.it's clearly to show how using ' dead ' the way calvernism uses it is not consistent.
So how about those who can’t hear it... perhaps do to physical challenges that prohibit it.... do you relegate them to hell?We have to hear the Gospel yes .
13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. So how about those who can’t hear it... perhaps do to physical challenges that prohibit it.... do you relegate them to hell?
Are you not saying that if they are not one of the frozen chosen that they couldn't believe anyway ?So how about those who can’t hear it... perhaps do to physical challenges that prohibit it.... do you relegate them to hell?
By what means? Are you not saying that if they are not one of the frozen chosen that they couldn't believe anyway ?
If they are not Chosen to salvation can they believe in your scheme ?By what means?
