President Trump's Speech Tomorrow at Noon

I get the point, I'm not saying he was wrong in WHAT he said, I am saying it was not the time or place.

I agree - the speech was harsh and abrasive, too much so for the prayer breakfast. Trump literally toned it down but the words were biting. Mittens and Pelosii deserve every bit of it but the people present should have some speech more uplifting and inspirational. He should have saved it for later, but carpe diem.

I was disgusted that the President used the Prayer Breakfast this morning to slam the Democrats and Pelosi. That was not the place or time.
He just survived a soft Coup, and you are worried about style? Pelosi merely being there is 100,000 X more offensive than anything Trump said.

No, not worried about style. Worried about the purpose of events. He didn't slam them during the State of the Union and that was good. He shouldn't have done it at the prayer breakfast either, especially when he had an event scheduled for noon that served that very purpose.

I'm not really here to argue or debate this. I am simply sharing my opinion.

I agree. There's a time and a place for things. I don't even like the idea of prayer breakfasts with politicians for this very reason--they are usually thinly-veiled political events masquerading as prayer breakfasts.

If he wanted to attend, he could have toned down his remarks or at least shortened them.

That being said, it won't really make much of a difference. Trump is going to be Trump. All of this is "baked into the cake" already and surprises no one.

Your actions are different than your words. Stop refuting other people's opinions and just read or admit what you are doing.

And I am responding to your opinion. Trump did the right thing. If more of the spineless jellyfish who fill American pulpits did the same, this nation would be a much better place.

Trump said a lot of good things at the event, but of course the press is not going to report them. They focused like a laser beam on about 30 seconds at the beginning of the speech which related to the impeachment process.

You can read the whole thing here:
Remarks by President Trump at the 68th Annual National Prayer Breakfast | The White House

I did object to Trump employing mind reading:

Weeks ago, and again yesterday, courageous Republican politicians and leaders had the wisdom, the fortitude, and strength to do what everyone knows was right. I don’t like people who use their faith as justification for doing what they know is wrong. Nor do I like people who say, “I pray for you,” when they know that that’s not so.

Mixed feelings here. They should not have claimed morality they don’t display. They definitely need to be called out for their evil. But it would be better not to do it quite that way, or there.

Personal faith and private prayer are evidence to no one but God. To tout them means nothing but empty words. To apparently act against such claims looks hypocritical.

Pelosi, as most of her party, has shown no good will but immense ill will. Romney is an all-out flipflopping backstabber. Both make great politicians and dangerous enemies, but terrible lawmakers and worse statesmen.

I agree that he said a lot of good things in the speech. It's worth the read. But he shouldn’t waste his time trying to like his sworn enemies, or anything they do. Don’t know who said he should. Maybe they meant he should play the politician and pretend to do so, then stab them in the back, or the heart, when the opportunity presents itself.

But I can say that going beyond that, we’re grateful to the people in this room for the love they show to religion. Not one religion, but many religions. They are brave. They are brilliant. They are fighters. They like people. And sometimes they hate people. I’m sorry. I apologize. I’m trying to learn. (Laughter.) It’s not easy. It’s not easy. (Applause.) When they impeach you for nothing, then you’re supposed to like them? It’s not easy, folks. (Laughter.) I do my best.

Thanks for posting the Link! I just read the speech. I think on the whole it was very good. I do have a problem with Trump's propensity to publicly humiliate his enemies/detractors. I completely understand all he has put up with since even before his announced candidacy. I understand that his enemies do need to be confronted. Some will always be against him no matter what he does, but it might be good if he reaches out to them privately to see if there is any hope for a better working relationship.
