Evangelism is the responsibility of the church. The pastors primary job is the word and prayer. Sorry
My layman's opinion is that his primary role is that of Preacher/teacher/shepherd!
He IS NOT an entertainment provider, social justice zealot, or politician, although any of the aforementioned may - at times - be applicable when it is a part of the first role as PREACHER, but very low on the priority scale.
His primary mission is to preach/teach the word of God (as written), nurture Christians and lead others to Christ.

You need to do a study on that word evangelist.

Timothy was Bishop of the Church of Ephesus?

Umm your source is in error. Let's take a look at the context of that passage:
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. 2 Tim 4:1-5
Doing the work of an evangelist is in the context of his preaching the word to the church. Further, Paul goes on to say:
"For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching,"
This again is in the context of the church.
The use of evangelist means to preach the good news. It says to "do the work of an evangelist" meaning preach the good news. All of this is in the context of his role within the church. It in fact does not refer to the office but to the act. Further, it supports my original claim.
You admit he is at that time the pastor. Do the work of an evangelist means to preach to the lost. Paul is not telling him to operate in the office of evangelist. Paul is reminding him that his office of Bishop includes the primary responsibility of evangelism.
My source is credible and correct as to the meaning on that verse.
I personally don't see that in Acts.

I am keeping the context. You simply can't refute the usage of evangelist in this passage.
The context is pretty plain. Paul was instructing Timothy to continue evangelism even though he was now a Bishop and not an evangelist.

No your not I showed you the context. What does Paul say in that chapter of doctrine in the church? Further, what statement of Paul in that chapter makes it a primary role of the pastor? The pastor has two primary roles in the church that should never be interfered with and that is time in the word and its delivery and prayer. There are a lot of roles the pastor has in the church. But those are the only two primary roles.
*note- all pastors should be as anyone else and be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks the reason for the hope that is in us with meakness and fear.
To teach and preach Jesus Christ, and to teach the members to grow up in Him!
Time in The Word and Prayer. Those are the responsibility of all believers. I think the pray, study, preach mentality is who so many churches are in demise or stagnant. If the pastor is not evangelistic, the members will not be evangelistic.
Did you see my earlier note? As a pastor of 4 small churches (which is the average in the sbc) I can tell you that typically the average church member wants little to nothing to do with sharing the gospel no matter how much it is done or pushed by the pastor. Even with that said, the primary role according to scripture, of the pastor is the word and prayer. I would also add that the prayer lives of the average church member is weak. What is passed for serious prayer in the average church is nothing more than aunt suzies hang nail and sister barbs cancer. We should pray for those things but those are not spiritual ware fare.
The demise of the church is tied to a lack of solid prayer that deals with serious issues and coverage of ministry that everyone thinks the next guys should be doing and not them.
