Sorry, i made an assumption.Jon how could I be misunderstanding without giving a comment. And I agree with your statement. Although I might come across both universal and against OSAS at the same time.
Matthew 18
23“For this reason the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his slaves. 24“When he had begun to settle them, one who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him. 25“But since he did not have the means to repay, his lord commanded him to be sold, along with his wife and children and all that he had, and repayment to be made. 26“So the slave fell to the ground and prostrated himself before him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you everything.’ 27“And the lord of that slave felt compassion and released him and forgave him the debt. 28“But that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii; and he seized him and began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay back what you owe.’ 29“So his fellow slave fell to the ground and began to plead with him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you.’ 30“But he was unwilling and went and threw him in prison until he should pay back what was owed. 31“So when his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were deeply grieved and came and reported to their lord all that had happened. 32“Then summoning him, his lord said to him, ‘You wicked slave, I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33‘Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you?’ 34“And his lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he should repay all that was owed him. 35“My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart.”

He never taught though that was the way to have a lost sinner get saved!
Jesus point to Him was that God required absolute moral perfection in order to merit salvation by good works, and the lawyer needed to be reminded that how God views keeping the law is way higher than how we view it!Luke 10
25And a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”26And He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?” 27And he answered, “YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.” 28And He said to him, “You have answered correctly; DO THIS AND YOU WILL LIVE.”

God has already fully forgiven all of our sins on the basis thta Jesus died for all of our sins in our place on the Cross, but we still to have that forgiveness extends towards us when we sin by confession!Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!
Wrong:
Proof: We are also forgiven our present tense sins!
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
if we confess : present tense. Plural :we (those to whom the epistle is addressed).
If any person could get saved apart from what Jesus did on the Cross, God is a liar!Jesus told him "You have answered correctly".
29But wishing to justify himself, he said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
30Jesus replied and said, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, and they stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead. 31“And by chance a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32“Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33“But a Samaritan, who was on a journey, came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion, 34and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35“On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you.’ 36“Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers’ hands?” 37And he said, “The one who showed mercy toward him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do the same.”
Is the Samaritan absolute moral perfection? He says follow the Samaritan's example.
I'm showing what scripture SAYS. I don't have to shove any of my teaching in it.

Calling Jesus a liar doesn't make what he said a lie.If any person could get saved apart from what Jesus did on the Cross, God is a liar!
You would be making God out a liar if you are claiming that any can be saved apart from the Cross of Christ!Calling Jesus a liar doesn't make what he said a lie.
Jesus told him "You have answered correctly".

Calling Jesus a liar doesn't make what he said a lie.
IF any of us could be saved by our own efforts and works, then Jesus did noty have to die in our place on the Cross! So we have a Christian here, telling us that what Jesus said in this passage means a person can be saved by by obeying the law apart from having any faith in Jesus Christ. A "Christian" mind you. Does this represent the RCC opinion here on this board? Fellow Catholics, please confirm.....

And no one does that (Romans 3:11; Romans 3;23).Luke 10

That does not change the teachings:Read the whole passage.
Jesus literally gives the Good Samaritan as an example of doing it.
If it could not be done he would have said it. Jesus Christ is a PERFECT teacher. There is nothing cryptic or Gnostic about his answer.
Paul in Romans 3 is quoting THE OLD TESTAMENT psalms, he is not presenting a brand new teaching.
I could quote psalms to the other extreme that says everyone is behaving perfectly.
Romans 3 is about Jews who believed themselves superior to gentiles. And Paul quotes the times when Jews flopped and failed.
