That seems like overkill! Kids do that and yes, if they're disrupting the class by being rude, by all means, have them leave. But to call security? I'd have sent the student to the office and if he refused to leave, then you simply call the office and they can send an escort. If they happen to send an officer, then fine, but why would they over that unless the student is violent?
I've called for an officer to come to the classroom ONCE. It was for what appeared to be a gang-related rivalry turning into a fight.
That's what they are there for. Not to handle burping.
Maybe the teacher needs to come work out here and see what constitutes a true emergency and need for an officer to respond. LOL
Ignoring silly, childish behavior like that also works wonders or joking with the kid about it rather than escalating it by reacting as if the kid is a criminal.

glfredrick, if you think k-5 school bathrooms are gross, you've never seen a girl's bathroom in high school. Yuck yuck yuck yuck. They're ten times worse than boys.
I wish they'd put metal detectors in ALL the schools. Especially city ones. Blah.
