Education of God's Word can be found in many places. God's Word is only in one place, the Bible.Originally posted by GraceSaves:
Then why are you posting here, seeking to gain insight even unto your own faith, when you have a Bible right there in your own home? Oh yeah...that's right...because education of God's Word can be found outside of the Bible itself.
We are shown by example in Acts that all beliefs must line up with the scriptures:Revelation 22:18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Jesus and the apostles used the scriptures to teach from. Would you like me to quote all of the verses that prove this?Acts 17:11Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was
Just one of many verses where he mentions that. I don't know of any verses off hand where he says "Dont you know from tradition?".Matthew 21:42"Have you never read in the Scriptures

Purgatory is to last 42 months as per Rev.13:5 wherein the first beast emerges out of the [celestial] sea with 10 diamond studded horns to show victory of the 10 commandments and seven heads where the Cardinal Virtues and Capital Sins meet in unison. The dragon was the serpentine nature of this man now surrendered to the beast [in the image of man] with the mortal wounds that had been healed. The mortal wounds is the stigmata seen by those who were slain by the sword when they were in captivity for 42 months.Revelation 22:18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

The second beast came out of the earth and is reborn out of carnal desire instead of God as per Jn.1:13. This beast spoke like a dragon and never surrendered its authority and is torn between the two horns of good and evil while continually pointing towards the first beast. This beast leads astray all of the inhabitants of the world
telling them to make a sola scriptura idol after the image of the first beast that had been slain while yet lived. Etc. Etc. and it goes on to identify those who display the mark of "that certain man."
Do you see the difference and do you now understand why you do not see purgatory in the bible? Elswhere, OT I think but forgot where, it talks about 1200-some days in purgatory.
Also, the Gosples take place in Purgatory to show the Children of Israel how to get out of purgatory where they died nonetheless from second hand scriptures (Jn.5:39-40).
Sorry.
Edited to change 12 horns into 10, sorry.

Please provide evidence before making wild accusations. "Protestants who took out parts of the Old Testament." Which parts, when, who did it, and why? Please provide some information here.Originally posted by GraceSaves:
Not one of those verses says that "the Bible" alone is anything. Realize that Catholics do not believe in "further revelation," as the first verse points out, nor have we taken out parts of Scripture. Rather, it is Protestants who took out parts of the Old Testament. Granted, you don't believe me when I say it, but there is more evidence of Protestants deleting than Catholics adding.

These books that you believe the Catholics "added," were in the first printed Bible, the Gutenburg (spelling) bible, which was printed in the 15th century, nearly 75 years before Luther. Furthermore, Luther, one of the most acclaimed reformers, created his own Bible, in which he took out New Testament books including James and Revelation. This can be found on the Internet, if you wish to read his version.Originally posted by DHK:

The problem with this is that Catholics can enter purgatory before they die. If that is true it must be conceivable that they will end purgatory and go to heaven before they die.Originally posted by Mike G:
I just find it more comforting and more in line with scripture to think that when I die I immediately go to be with Christ.

Since every born-again believer is a saint, you can just address me "Saint DHK." And I'm not even in Heaven yet.
