Tom, I see the remark in the same light as I see Navy personnel calling the Coast Guard "Sallow Water Sailors." Or remarks that the Coast Guard has a minimum 6 foo height requirement so Coasties can stand up if they go overboard.

Of course there was. To suggest one branch of the military is more valuable, patriotic, effective, accomplished than the others is a deception. History does not bear out that deceptive suggestion

    Sorry, but it shows.

So do I. And find such to be insulting. I wonder how Douglas Munro would feel about the subject? :)

"You never served, did you?" Is a rhetorical negative.

There was no such suggestion. Apparently everybody but you understands that.

What is your pet excuse for your demeaning behavior?

Suggesting that one branch of the military is superior to the others is demeaning to the others. Ipso facto, QED.

I haven't demeaned anyone, unless you consider agreeing with you as demeaning. Go figure.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    Or the the Midgetts:
Most notable among the Outer Banks life-savers is the renowned Midgett family, who have patrolled the beaches of the Outer Banks since at least the 1790s. Even among other heroic families of Hatteras, the Midgetts are considered mighty men. Claiming one hero in a family is usually considered legendary. Yet, over the years ten men of the mighty Midgetts have been awarded Life-Saving Medals, a record that remains unsurpassed in the history of the Life-Saving Service and the current day Coast Guard.

The Book says you have to go out. It doesn't say anything about coming back in.

Me, I just tell them the Coast Guard is the fighting core the Navy rallies around in the time of war. Because for the Coast Guard, war is just another natural disaster.

Narcissism is alive and well on planet earth. Studying the history of conscription is an interesting midnight adventure. See also the Sons of Thunder.

The all volunteer force changed the situation too.

"Thank you for serving"--makes it all the same.

Take a trip to a VA hospital.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

I think that is both humorous, and fine. Anyone who would get upset at that has way too thin skin. That's a part of the military, and the friendly inter-branch rivalry. If someone gets upset at that, it's because they're feeling inferior, and are attempting to make up for it. If you think you're the best (which you should, otherwise you'd have chosen a different branch) then who cares what someone else thinks?

Besides all that, we have Psalms 119:165

It's not the same, Salty. I'm not sure why just yet, but I promise you, it's not the same. :Smile
