Or if you lightened up, you could do your stand up routine. It’s about raising some funds, not opening a casino. Nothing to have prolapse over.

You Catholics are hysterical and leads to many church evacuations and church closure's :Biggrin

The clown show, gambling casino model has always been the Roman Catholic Church model for funding their initiatives …and what in reality are they raising money for… paying for court cases and legal representation to pay off the activities of pedofile clergy perhaps? Pardon me but most Baptists don’t concentrate on that nor do they fund Catholic Charities to embolden illegals to flood the US boarders. Bake sales and crafts fairs and contributions by members of the local churches are more than sufficient to cover the costs of church maintenance and missionary endeavors thank you. :Smile

I've thought about this for a while.

@Revmitchell is right that Scripture does not prohibit gambling.

But church raffles (the ones I know of anyway) are not gambling. The "prize" is not something one would gamble to win (even the shotgun in my earlier example).

Now, if the "raffle" was buying a $2 ticket and the prize was substantial....say 50% if the cash collected....then it may be gambling.

Oh.....I think I'd like bingo. Never played it as gambling, but it was fun as a kid. No prize, though.
So was pin the tail on the donkey. You can still find the remnant game in the US Congress, again no prize just endless tedium and blind players winning nothing. Now the Latin piñata bludgeoning game represents far more rewards and is more appropriate in todays world, with the hanging animal being the USA (full of goodies inside)and killing it a means of advancing one’s self. Far more fun & anyone can play! :Wink
