No, I am not confusing it with anything, but this thread has reached its limit of posts. There was no abomination of desolation by the Romans and the Pope never had a temple to go to because it was destroyed in 70 AD.
Jesus used Antiochus Epiphanes as a symbol of the Roman occupation. You have serious problems if yo make Jesus out to be Antichrist in Daniel 9, remove his atoning death, and then add thousands of years to the 70 weeks in an effort to make it work.

Antiochus Epiphanes was not mentioned by Jesus. Jesus says when you see, which is not a past tense. Antiochus Epiphanes was a Greek, not a Roman. The abomination of desolation will occur in the third temple, which has not been built yet.

Jesus IS the third Temple along with the church.

“Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” (John 2:19)

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” (1 Corinthians 6:19)

Oh, come on. Solomon built the first temple, right? A second temple was built after the return from Babylon, right. That one was destroyed by Rome in 70 AD. A new third one will be built because we know that the anti-Christ will defile it, because Jesus said when you see that, right?

This will never happen. Especially a return to the OT animal sacrifices.

Of course it will. Already there are animal sacrifices among fringe groups all over the world. Santeria in Florida and Haiti and elsewhere probably, some sects of Islam, and some sects of Hinduism.

If flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom, only redeemed believers will be there.

It is a difficult position to hold to a literal interpretation of scripture (as the apostles and Jesus do- conceal a thing) while declaring that Titus destroying Jerusalem was worse than Nagasaki or Hiroshima or WW2. I think you non-literalists need to come to grips with Israel's re-emergence and all the nations round about it seeking its destruction (Zech 12, 14, Joel 3). All the nations of the earth have not been burdened yet with Jerusalem but we are getting there before your eyes. The Lord did not defend Israel in 70AD (Zech.12:4-9), neither did the sun darken and the moon turn to blood with the stars falling from heaven (Rev6:12-17, Isa.13:9-13). But he will return and every eye shall see him when he comes in the clouds (Zech.12:10, Rev.1:7) Israel shall be saved (Rom.11:26). Just believe what the Book says.
