Point being ~ THAT (financial obligation of NATO members) has NOTHING whatsoever to do with our standing as an ally of Germany!

Stay on that subject a moment......Question: If the Financial Obligation of Germany has absolutely nothing to do with our standing with Germany......then what prompted Merkel to her commentary that Germany can no longer trust the United States?

You made a statement about Trump, specific to him having a particular medical condition, then side-stepped revealing your comment has any basis in truth. I notice that, as well did Rippon. End of issue.

No its not. Trump is a phony, from start to finish. I know many men who went into the service of the Country, even with health concerns bigger than bone spurs. He had the means to correct his health issues but didn't do it......rather he used it as an excuse to avoid military service. I call that cowardice. So now we fast forward to his pushing & shoving people out of the way at a summit. Just who the heck does this character think he is? Who raised him? I blame his stinking parents for his infantile behavior and I blame him for never correcting it. If he had gone into the military two things would of happened.....he would have sent home to his mommy or he would have made himself into a man. I was just giving Trump what everyone has always given him......An excuse for repeated bad behavior.

First you need to KNOW, WHAT NATO is.

NATO ~ North Atlantic Treaty Organization

^ ta da ~ An Organization formed BY Treaty between countries. Established 1949. Currently 28 countries.

The Countries who signed the Treaty made themselves SUBJECT TO the TREATY.

The Countries who made themselves SUBJECT TO the TREATY, did so out of CHOICE and became MEMBER Nations.

The PURPOSE of the establishment of NATO ~

"NATO’s essential purpose is to safeguard the freedom and security of its members through political and military means."

The Treaty itself sets forth the Articles to which each Member Nation agrees to adhere.

Short of me doing ALL of your homework for you....You can look up the Treaty and read the Articles for yourself.

Trump addressed specifically Member Nations WHO do not contribute the AGREED amount PER the TREATY, to provide Security and DEFENSE within the NATO organization.

The AGREED AMOUNT is 2% of the individual Nations GPD ( which is 2% of the number arrived at according to the Member Nations individual Gross Domestic Product figure)

^ THAT has nothing to do with each individual nations separate Military Defense Programs and spending.

^ THAT has everything specifically to do with A Treaty that each MEMBER Nation Pledged to contribute TO NATO'S security and defense program.

Well HELLO.... Five out of 28 are meeting their financial obligation of at least 2% GPD.

2017 the US contributed ~ 3.61 %

Trump ADDRESSED the NATO meeting with these alarming results. With his perspective on the matter, UNLIKE his predecessors WHO did not CALL OUT the MEMBER NATIONS to meet their pledged obligations!

Trumps message was loud and perfectly clear to the Member Nations who are acutely AWARE of NOT adhering to the Treaty by providing NATO with their pledged and obligated 2% GPD.

(While it is painfully obvious many reporters and citizens of said Members of NATO, haven't a clue what their own NATION is obligated to do.)

Trump FURTHER implied, IF some Member Nations are going to continue to FAIL at keeping their Word, they may come to find the US No Longer providing MORE than 2%.

Now enter Merkel's comment ~ Can't trust the US ? Concerning WHAT? Being an Ally? No. Being NATO'S piggy bank ,
and go to Nation to provide $$$$ when other Nations default on their own Word? AS Germany did? Precisely.

However a VERY deceptive word for Merkel to use in her comment....ie.....TRUST.....

When the TRUTH IS; It is her own Nation that defaults on their own Word, being not TRUSTWORTHY!
