The Great Physician said...

Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard [it], he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Luke 5:31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.

The church should be welcome to all. We, as Christians, can stand BY sinners without standing UP for them.

'They will know us by our love.' I John 4:7,8.

Another great post, I think like Christ we are to Love the sinner but hate the sin...

Just in your Church...

Gal 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Apparently in the church Paul addressed

1Co 5:1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, for a man has his father's wife.
1Co 5:2 And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you.
1Co 5:3 For though absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did such a thing.
1Co 5:4 When you are assembled in the name of the Lord Jesus and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus,
1Co 5:5 you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.
1Co 5:6 Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?
1Co 5:7 Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.

I think your the only voice of reason on this thread.

There is a balance to be maintained between standing against premarital sex, out of wedlock births, and ungodly dating habits with ministering to single mothers (those divorced and never wed). There is a balance to be maintained between standing against drug and alcohol abuse and ministering to the addicted. There is a balance to be maintained between standing against the homosexual lifestyle and ministering to those with aids as a result and are dying.

Lost people are like children and only care for themselves. Even those who fill the pews from Sunday to Sunday. For their day to day happiness and future hope are only tied up in what comes from within themselves. But those who rely on the salvation that comes only from God have an inner peace that gives them the freedom to serve others without any thought of self gratification.

We cannot minister to a lost and dying world if the holiness of God is set aside. What is being dubbed as doctrinal correctness is in fact a concern for the true nature of God. You cannot lead people toward salvation by means of scriptural proclamation if your articulation lacks any semblance of provocation. For the love of God shows you the state of your true condition. You have to get them lost before they can get saved.

Words like judgment and condemnation are battered around in defense of withholding the holiness of God. Are those who are quick to catapult such words merely fearful for the lost, or are they also fearful for their own lives? Why would a child of God avoid the conviction that brings them closer to the heavenly Father? It is my position that the conviction of God is a bitter sweet necessity that should be cherished and not disdained.

First it reminds us that we are the children of God. And for the lost it tells them that God has yet to give up on them. There is no sweeter news to the righteous nor to the lost in all of creation. Second it reminds us of our true state as created and imperfect beings in need of the grace of God to walk in the Spirit day by day.

The term “doctrinal correctness” is a pejorative of late describing the stance on the holiness of God. Such holiness should be ever before our face and should be placed before the faces of the lost and the dying. The woman that was a sinner ( Luke 7:38-39) understood all to well the holiness of God as she wept at Jesus feet. Sinners cannot come to Jesus joyfully with the only motive to simply “follow Him”. Such nonsense bypasses the work of the cross and makes it of none effect. Those who understand the holiness of God have a love of God that drives them to the feet of God ( Luke 7:47 ).

May we, the church, always stand for the holiness of God ( doctrinal correctness ) so that the lost world may see Him as they should.

Isaiah 6:5-8

5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. 6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: 7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me

Sexualy immorality in the church must be judged and scripture followed. We can not allow into the fellowship of believers homosexuals, or other sexual immoral peoples. If they are christians they must be disciplined, and Paul says that discipline is removal from fellowship. You might love them, but you must follow scripture, and not accept this sin into the church.

The Corthians were bragging about their sexual sins...
That is different from ministering to those that are in sexual sins... and trying to break their bonds.

"fellowship of believers "

Do you mean only perfect people should be allowed in church on Sunday morning?

I shouldn't have went this past Sunday...

Discipline is for restoration not removal...

To me, the difference is the heart. Yes, we're all sinners. But if we go to church, claiming to be a believer yet continue to not only do a sin in public but deny that it's wrong, then we are to use the discipline to remove the person from our congregations. However, if there is a person who is struggling with a sin - alcoholism, pornography, lust and immorality, etc. - and yet they are wanting to fight that sin and overcome it, then it is OK for them to continue in the congregation while being under a discipleship situation. Where someone is actively working with them to help them overcome that sin in their lives.

And this does not address Ray Boltz and those like him.

Okay just because the man claims to be a homosexual doesnt mean I am going to throw out the Ray Boltz CD's and refuse to listen to him. He has always been one of my favorite singers (seen him in concert 4 times growing up) Hes a person just like me. I am divorced and pregnant, bottom line--we are human we are going to make mistakes. He still loves the Lord. That man cant write the songs that he does and not have a passion for the Lord, as for the homosexuality thing well thats his thing..just like me being divorced and dating well thats my thing. I still am teaching my children from the word every night, still in prayer every night, am I perfect ..no way not a chance but I am forgiven just like Ray is forgiven. Not one of us on these boards are perfect no matter how much we think we are (and there are several here that think that) we all have things that bother us.

Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are saying...
So let me ask this to you and Donna....

If Ray Boltz came to your church next Sunday just to attend... nothing else, would you shake his hand?

I am not talking about letting him lead worship, but to simply be in the assembly that morning.

Or would you shun him?

I have to disagree... Ray cannot be forgiven by God if he wallows and enjoys his sin.

Forgiveness doesn't come without repentance...

Unless Ray repents, he will be in Hell...
That is why it is important that we welcome those like him in to hear the message.

But thats for God to decide, not us. Thats why I dont judge people because the moment I judge someone there are 4 fingers pointing back at me. I know I am forgiven because God and I had a moment and a peace came over me and I just knew....

The lost are already judged...

The bible makes it clear that unless one repents of their sin, they will go to Hell..

I don't judge either.. I just pass on the message that God has given.

He said it.

Interesting thing about this story... He was in the closet for 30+ years and now he comes out...

I was out of the closet for 20+ years and have just decided in the last year to live my life for Christ and have turned away from the gay lifestyle.

I find the human mind a funny thing.. I fought long and hard to try to get the Bible to accept me for who I was, and even believed it for years, but in the end God won, he always does. :godisgood:

As a newly recovering gay person (what is the term I use here??) I will pray that he will find the light again and will fight the good fight to turn his life back over to Christ.

God knew about him all the time.

It is likely that he never "found the light" in the first place.

God knows about that as well.

Until he has announced his repentance the same way he announced his sin he would not be welcome.
