This is not a church ...it is a CULT!
(CNN)-- A Kentucky pastor who starred in a reality show about snake-handling in church has died -- of a snakebite.
Jamie Coots died Saturday evening after refusing to be treated, Middleborough police said.
On "Snake Salvation," the ardent Pentecostal believer said that he believed that a passage in the Bible suggests poisonous snakebites will not harm believers as long as they are anointed by God. The practice is illegal in most states, but still goes on, primarily in the rural South.

Sorry, but IMHO, these people are not Biblical World View believers. They have taken scripture out of context, and perverted it to the glory of their own selfish ideals. Like must cults, they have removed selective verses and teaching, and then bent them in ways that would glorify their own ambitions, and they draw others into the freak sideshows, under the false premise of being a church of the most high God!
This cult is no different than the Morons, or even Jim Jones. It is not in line with the Biblical strong, practical, and mainline theologies that true churches of God follow and believe!
I'm sorry the man died, but if you play with snakes, this is bound to happen one day! Will the followers get smart now and find a Bible believing, Bible teaching church? I highly doubt it ... most followers of cult-like religions need the circus side show excitement, and they'll probably see an increase in attendance as the "Look-i-loos" drop by to see who steps in and takes the snake doctors (Jamie Coots) place, and sad to say, a good number will like what they see, and remain ... after all, that is how these church wannabes got their start. People wanting to be entertained while sitting on the edge of the pew, were mezmorised and drawn in, because in society there are always going to be the fringe few!
In my way of thinking, this is a dangerous brand of religion, but most people don't like snakes, so I am pretty sure the attendance at snake charming churches will remain small, and more like a carnival freak show event, after all, the fear of snakes is mighty strong, and most rational thinking folks will figure it out on their own, that this is not a church, as least not the church Jesus called us to build, nearly 2,000 ago!
And that, my fellow board members is the rest of the story based solely on my humble, opinion! :type:
