I think it's a broader issue. I've never been to a snake handling...insert never will either...but aren't their kids there? That may be why it's illegal.

I agree. Seems kind of strange that snake handling in the name of religion would be illegal, but snake handling in the name of herpetology would be just fine.
I might handle snakes IF they've had their fangs pulled and given rubber dentures, dead, or knocked old cold as a wedge...and also non-poisonous...
pulled fangs??? The snake ----by nature----will grow new ones!!! The only thing the snake cannot grow again is a head when I blast it with a 12 gauge Remington!!!!! Diamondback-----meet Remington!!!!:wavey::wavey:
