The Pharisees were the MOST CONSERVATIVE group in Israel in Christ's time. It's utterly preposterous to call them liberal. The definition of a liberal is someone who wants to change the status quo. SA conservative is someone who wants to preserve it. Not in a political sense of course but in general, Jesus Christ was the most radically man in all of hisatory.

Jesus Christ was the most obediant & submissive man in history.

I just noticed the same folks that tell us women preachers are fine, and that John the Baptist wasn't alive when he felt the Holy Spirit are telling us not to "liberally" twist scripture.
