Rich men entering the Kingdom

No one enters into the kingdom of God but by His grace ( Romans 4:4-8, Romans 11:5-6 ).
If it were by any other means, then it would depend on works.
Riches cannot purchase it, efforts cannot purchase it, and bloodline cannot purchase it.

Being a "member" of a group does not purchase it.
But with the Lord, all things are possible...He makes it so that any person He chooses ( Psalms 65:4, 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 ) can enter into eternal life, regardless of personal wealth and status.

He just happens to choose the poor of this world, rich in faith ( James 2:5 ) for the most part...( 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 ).

Salvation is of the Lord, not of men.
It originated with Him and His purposes, not ours.:)

No one can stand on one leg, drink a beer and scratch their head all at the same time unless by the grace of God.

You can't even exist because Jesus Christ is the sustained of all things.

"Riches cannot purchase it, efforts cannot purchase it, and bloodline cannot purchase it."

10 billionaires

10 poor people

Place your bets who is elect and saved?
The poor?

Bloodline:

1 Corinthians 7

14For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.

No bloodline they should just be damned and unclean.

The rich you ruler loved his riches more than he could love Jesus,. "the cares of this world"
In the OP, Rev has the question that the rich young ruler was troubled at the decision recommended by Jesus to abandon the riches if he was to truly follow Jesus, The rich young ruler made a choice and did not. so how is this election or non election?

Are the non elect sorrowful for God decisions?

Do God's children put the cares of this life above their caring and love for Him?
Obviously the rich young ruler did.

How does this tie in with election?
Election is connected with regeneration, regeneration with the condition of man's heart, man's heart with the willingness or unwillingness to obey or even love God, loving God with the atonement, the atonement with justification and so forth.

Are the non-elect sorrowful for God's decisions?
No, unless our sinful hides are on the line, and then we are not sorry for our sins, but for incurring the wrath of God...big difference, IMO.
Are they sorrowful that some of God's "requirements" seem too harsh or demanding?
Yes.

Do the unsaved ( the "non-elect" ) bat an eyelash towards God when it comes to seeking Him and His ways?
No.

There is only one reason a rich man gives up all that he has and follows Christ with his whole heart...
Because he or she loves the Lord more than they love riches.
The only thing that can cause a man to give up everything and follow Christ, is a love of God and His ways...and that requires a heart change.
God's word calls it being born again, or "regeneration" ( Titus 3:5-6 ).

May God bless you.:)

Whoever the Lord decides.
He is the one who saves ( Psalms 20:6, Psalms 28:8, Psalms 68:20 ), and He is the one who casts into Hell ( Luke 12:5 ).

John 1:13
No bloodline.

Nothing a person can do will ever endear themselves to God.
Nothing a person can do will ever result in their gaining the gift of eternal life.
He has mercy on whom He will, and compassion on whom He will ( Exodus 33:19, Romans 9:14-18 ).

That's why it's called "grace" and not "works" ( Ephesians 2:8-10, Romans 11:5-6 ).
I wish you well, sir.:)

God COMMANDS ALL not to sin. So its quite obvious what he WANTS and DESIRES.

God wishes you and all well too.

Ecc 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

Truth is, none of us have stopped sinning. The poor as well as the rich still sin. The most important of all things is that we genuinely believe in Christ Jesus. If we in fact believe in Christ we will be with Him in eternity. Rich or poor doesn't matter.
Christ paid for all my sin on the cross, all sins past, present, and future. We do not have to work to get Salvation, nor do we have to work to keep it.
