“Global Strategist” and apostasy enthusiast Rick Warren was at Georgetown University yesterday and declared that “faith-based organizations” are the missing link to solving the world’s problems. Wiccans apparently would qualify. They do, after all, have faith. The future of the world, he declared, is religious pluralism. But what is religious pluralism anyway? Doesn’t that just mean tolerance for those of different beliefs who may live in your neighborhood, i.e. avoiding the Muslim propensity for burning down the houses of elderly Christian converts? (While they’re inside.)

Couldn't Warren have been simply stating a fact: that the future of the world is religious pluralism. This doesn't mean he supports it, only that he sees it coming.

Religious tolerance is what the first amendment is all about..

Here in the US, we are proud of our religious heritage.. especially us Baptists that fought for religious tolerance among religions...

Why would we not want that around the world... We promote democracy in other countries, and part of that is religious diversity...

Of Course I believe that Christianity is the only way to God, but we have to respect others that don't believe this... hoping that through the respect we show them, we can win them to Christ before it is too late.

We have to learn to accept without endorsement.

So what's the point? I think the author is twisting the entire point of what Warren is saying.

Rick Warren is stating that increasing aid to poverty is dependent upon faith based organizations. That they are, to quote the article, the "missing link" to successfully beat poverty. That is about as close to "wiccan" as he said...which in my estimation is trying to turn his point around to make him sound like a heretic. I don't think he even mentioned any particular organization. Just "faith based".

His point isn't false religions, his point is that faith based organizations need to step up to the plate in contributing more to poverty. That is my interpretation.

Do we have the transcript of his speech? Without that, we see a very tiny tidbit of what he truly said. I cannot make a judgment on that. How do we know he didn't further explain immediately following that statement? I love when people bash someone over one line - and completely misrepresent what the person was saying. Makes them look pretty dumb when the truth comes out. :laugh:

Exactly right ann. Some around here just never grow tired of attacking certain people.

I do not always agree with Warren, but I find it extremely sad that some folks just continually bash him for things. They would be better served to spend the time the devote to bashing RW to serving the Lord in the way He has called them to.
