Haven't had a Rick Warren thread in awhile so...

Rick Warren Promotes Harry Potter

"…Rick Warren is promoting Harry Potter on his web site as well as in his newsletter. Sad evidence of the increasing apostasy within the church (Warren’s newsletter reaches about 400,000 pastors). In the "Ministry Toolbox" section of Warren’s June 21st newsletter he submits contemplative advocate, James Emery White’s "Recommended Reading List." The Newsletter states:

‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, by J.K. Rowling. Though the seventh and final installment is yet to be released (July 21, to be exact), when it does, it will be well-worth reading. Though some would disagree, I am one to put Rowling’s work in the camp of fantasy literature, along with Lewis and Tolkien, with her use of magic more mechanical than occultic. I found her earlier six volumes instant classics of the genre, and the final book will undoubtedly cement this series as among the best written.’

Claiming that Harry Potter does not belong in the occult camp is like claiming that Brokeback Mountain is not about homosexuality."

The only problem I see with that statement is, he doesn't win souls to Christ, he brings the unchurched to church and tells them how good they are and to try a little harder sometimes to be a little more good.

Before he built his church he went door to door and asked everyone in that area why they don't attend church, the responses varied, but he designed his church to bring in the unchurched, to suite their needs, give them what they want. How many people would let those that don't attend church and those who aren't Christians tell the pastor how to run it and get their way? Great man that Rick Warren, great man.

I have found two humorous quotes on BB today, how nice. This was quite entertaining. (I personally believe he wins many a sould to Saddleback, a few to Christ.)

These are outright lies and clear misrepresentation. RW has never taught a works based theology.:BangHead:

This week's Ministry Toolbox, which is Warren's way of communicating with pastors and church leaders around the world, has a link titled "Recommended Reading List." While the list is actually that of contemplative promoter James Emery White, (a contributor to Warren's newsletter), it ended up on Warren's own newsletter as recommended reading. 1

On the Recommended Book list is the following description of the upcoming Harry Potter release:

There are quite a few referencing God's annointed, OT and NT.

Good thing I was talking about Slick Warren and not God's annointed eh?

I'm sure the prospective members who have had to go through a membership course disagree with that insinuation.

No, he doesn't wear a suit.

No, he doesn't preach from the King James.

No, he doesn't pattern his worship services after the 1950s.

But he does preach the gospel. I've heard some of his sermons.

He is not anyone that I would lie about, he pretty much is a great problem in the church today. He wants to remove doctrine from the church. No one at his church carries Bibles, but they(edit) sure tote a copy of PDL or PDC. These are things he says often times in interviews, because he is annointed.

Benny Hinn followers are always warning me about that one
