The American people by and large, conservative or otherwise do not want government controlled health care. The Democratic lies have been exposed and the American people see it for what it is. Of course far left loonie libs need to walk around with their hands over their eyes intentionally ignoring the truth about why the US does not want this garbage. So they have to give themselves some cover and blame the insurance co.

The CBO which is not completely reliable for an actual picture of costs nor does it give a realistic overall picture.

My question is this: Do the fools not realize that they are merely recovering a portion of their own property, and that these federal funds could not be given them without having first been taken from them? It really isn’t my question alone, but one penned, virtually verbatim, almost 500 years ago by a revolutionary philosopher in the realm of natural rights (and peaceful resistance) named, Étienne de la Boétie.

To illustrate how timely and relevant was la Boétie’s eloquence, consider the full passage from The Politics of Obedience: The Discourse of Voluntary Servitude:

“Poor, wretched, and stupid peoples, nations determined on your own misfortune and blind to your own good! You let yourselves be deprived before your own eyes of the best part of your revenues; your fields are plundered, your homes robbed, your family heirlooms taken away. You live in such a way that you cannot claim a single thing as your own; and it would seem that you consider yourselves lucky to be loaned your property, your families, and your very lives. All this havoc, this misfortune, this ruin, descends upon you not from alien foes, but from the one enemy whom you yourselves render as powerful as he is, for whom you go bravely to war, for whose greatness you do not refuse to offer your own bodies unto death. He who thus domineers over you has only two eyes, only two hands, only one body, no more than is possessed by the least man among the infinite numbers dwelling in your cities; he has indeed nothing more than the power that you confer upon him to destroy you.

“Where has he acquired enough eyes to spy upon you, if you do not provide them yourselves? How can he have so many arms to beat you with, if he does not borrow them from you? The feet that trample down your cities, where does he get them if they are not your own? How does he have any power over you except through you? How would he dare assail you if he had no cooperation from you? What could he do to you if you yourselves did not connive with the thief who plunders you, if you were not accomplices of the murderer who kills you, if you were not traitors to yourselves? You sow your crops in order that he may ravage them, you install and furnish your homes to give him goods to pillage; you rear your daughters that he may gratify his lust; you bring up your children in order that he may confer upon them the greatest privilege he knows – to be led into his battles, to be delivered to butchery, to be made the servants of his greed and the instruments of his vengeance; you yield your bodies unto hard labor in order that he may indulge in his delights and wallow in his filthy pleasures; you weaken yourselves in order to make him the stronger and the mightier to hold you in check. From all these indignities, such as the very beasts of the field would not endure, you can deliver yourselves if you try, not by taking action, but merely by willing to be free.

“Resolve to serve no more, and you are at once freed. I do not ask that you place hands upon the tyrant to topple him over, but simply that you support him no longer; then you will behold him, like a great Colossus whose pedestal has been pulled away, fall of his own weight and break into pieces.” Étienne de La Boétie

Want to topple the giant? Take away it's food and starve it. Abolish the Federal Reserve and the IRS.

I think the connies have themselves been conned by corporate special interests. In this case, the insurance lobby has pulled out all stops to derail universal healthcare by fomenting fear in the less educated or less discerning segment of society.
Wow, you belch the Party line well.

Liberty built this nation and it's wealth, not Government. Government has plundered it and given it to the dregs of humanity to buy their votes.

Who is it that allows their parents to go destitute in their old age? Not those who were raised right.

Yeah, only ignorant, uneducated folks could be against socialized medicine.

And the people who want to force this through, against the people's will, aren't beholden to the litigious element of the ambulance chaser lobby.

I try to get along with you, but you are just too hateful.

Since you asked

>My question is this: Do the fools not realize that they are merely recovering a portion of their own property, and that these federal funds could not be given them without having first been taken from them?

American politics, like most all human activity, is based on greed, getting a bigger slice of the pie for one's self. Under US politics, there are two basic ways of getting a bigger slice of the public pie.

One is by legislation which gives one's state a larger per capita slice of the money. This can be thru public welfare, thru govt purchasing contracts, construction projects, and through military basing.

The other way is by class warfare, such as this medical welfare program. The problem with class warfare is that the people who think they are winning the war are not running the war and the excess funds will end up in Swiss banks.

No, what built this country was assets stolen from the Indian People.

The big difference between North and South America is that in the south, Spain and Portugal stole gold and piddled it away in three generations.

In the north, we stole good farm land, ranch land, and natural resources for the long term advantage. Also, we got the better climate.

Why is it that you all worry about SS and medicare going broke but never about the military going broke?

>You totally miss the point. Every detail you expained had something to do with making it hard on the middle or lower class if someone other than Democrats and Republicans were in power. It seems to me they are stealing money right in front of your nose, and you do not even see it. Before there were Democrats and Republicans, when the US was still governed by the Constitution, we did just fine.

The Bush and Obama sent enough money to foreign governments and Swiss banks to pay for everyone's SS and medicare and also pay off every residential mortgage.

> You act like our survival as a nation depends on keeping the two thieving parties in power on a rotating basis. No doubt next year you will vote for one of them.

My plan is the dissolve the Constitution and break up into 50 sovereign nations under a modified Articles of Confederation. It would be tough for the first 20 years but the only way to beat the one worlders.

There would be no need to dissovle the constitution as you put it if the states would assert their tenth amendment right and with hold money that feeds the federal giant. Let it die of starvation.

We're already a confederation of fifty sovereign states with good constitutions. We just need to grow a backbone and act like it.

Curtis, old friend, settle down. I never said only ignorant, uneducated folks can be against socialized medicine. Carefully reread my words as they stand, without reading more into them. There are definitely legitimate reasons one may be against this, but it is my considered opinion that many people ARE being manipulated by the powerful insurance lobby.

Peace to you, bro.

Read it, and re-read it. And you are right. It stands just fine on it's own. I unserstood it correctly, the first time.

I am convinced that we got what we have thru a logical legal process and thanks to human nature if we could start the process over with the same constitution we would get the same results. Just finished a book about US history up to the election of 1800 and it is obvious that the same powers are in play and nothing has changed.

The money that Congress spends is "constitutional" because the Supreme Court says it is. There is no constitutional way to eliminate 200 years of case law without a shooting revolution.

No, that's Marxism. American politics was based on the concept of divine creation and the rights to life, liberty and property. It was the understanding that men were at heart fallen and depraved creatures, and that when given power they would wield it in a corrupt fashion. The monsters in government were to be chained down by the Constitution and checked by the separate and equal powers, the states and ultimately the will of the governed.

Actually what you described was your own intent. You're a government employee represented by a collective which cannot produce and only knows how to make demands. Your livelihood is one that is sustained by the plunder of citizens.

Naturally you must justify it by saying that it is the "American way."

Under US politics, there are two basic ways of getting a bigger slice of the public pie.

The term patriot defines a person quite clearly. Two catagories exist. One group believes the status quo of today is normal. They believe there is a difference between the two parties, and parrot the party line of one or another. They give no thought as to why we do not follow the Constitution anymore, nor does it bother them that the politicians in Washington rob the American people instead of serving them. It usually makes them good when one party replaces the other in power, as if something has been accomplished. This is the non-patriot group.

One the other hand, citizens who realize that our country has been steered away from the Constitution by both parties, that realize that the goal of both parties is to keep 100% of the power in this country, and that in reality, they are one entity, are patriots. They are generally conservative, believe leaders should serve and not rob, and actually believe leaders of this nation should have some similance of moral fiber. They are for limited government, and believe in a return to governing by the Constitution. They are patriots. They believe in an honest government, free of corporate and foreign influence. They believe in individual achievement and reaching further than the horizon. They believe in accountability.

I forgot to address the imagination of the non-patriot, which is not the horizon, it is the end of the nose.
