If you'll notice, one of Mr. Walls tactics is to create 2 or more "models" and say "you HAVE to believe one of these", causing you to focus only on what he is teaching you and not on actual truth.

Pretty slick.

God didn't scatter the Gentiles, He scattered the Jews. So all "Replacement" Theology fails trying to attach these verses to the church.

Matthew 23

37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

There's an ENORMOUS amount of Calvinists on here and popular Calvinists (James White, John Piper, John MacArthur) that read C.S. Lewis, and that's where Jerry Walls got his ideas from which he freely admits. I totally disagree with his view on this, but it's definitely not the Catholic version.

There's a big difference between quoting certain elements of a person views (I even agree with John Calvin, and Luther on a few things, we are certainly in agreement about the RCC) and RELYING ON THEM AS YOUR FINAL AUTHORITY ON ALL MATTERS OF FAITH AND PRACTICE. Hence the reason that TULIPERS identify themselves and their doctrines as CALVINISM.

And, I've corresponded with the kid in the video and he is the one doing most of the talking, and he doesn't agree with purgatory of any form. I don't agree with Jerry Walls about purgatory, the KJV, or Arminianism, but Walls is not my FINAL AUTHORITY, and I am not an Arminian, or a Wallite (as opposed to those who call themselves CALVINists).

Calvin is not the "final authority" for many of us who believe in the Doctrines of Grace, in spite of the attempts of others to paint that as being the case.

And why is it okay for you to speak approvingly of Walls in spite of his doctrinal peccadilloes, but it is not okay for others (who choose to) to quote Calvin because he was supposedly such a bad guy. Why does Walls get a pass?

Yeah, here's plenty of hypocrisy on both sides here...

No of course not. But purgatory is a serious matter. If you listen to Walls video that I posted, he doesn't believe that purgatory is a punishment, but rather the final sanctification. That is a clear denial of Christ's sufficient atonement which makes me clean, free from sin, and seated with Christ and and heir of the promises of God. Add to that, there is nothing, absolutely nothing in scripture about a place we go after death to continue the sanctification process. In fact we are told that absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
So that's a huge divide for me. I question his discernment and his hermeneutical skills. He is also a Methodist/Arminian, who believes you can lose your salvation.

With all of those huge differences in doctrine, I have zero reason to listen to him.

You just made my point. Refute Calvinism all you want, but use someone whose doctrines aren't totally messed up. You will have more credibility in doing so.

It's like trying to justify KJVO by using Peter Ruckman as an authority on the subject.
