Ron Paul Wins Iowa GOP Debate

The verdict is in - Ron Paul won last night's GOP Presidential debate in Ames, Iowa. Much to the chagrin of the neo-cons at Fox News, the polls, and applause, overwhelmingly showed that the people thought Ron Paul won the debate. Fox News was even forced to take down its own poll from its website after Paul crushed the competition in a landslide. Readers can can view that poll here. This is the largest online GOP debate poll, and just under 30,000 Americans have voted. Ron Paul has received a whopping 16,188 votes thus far, which is more than triple the support of runner-up Newt Gingrich.

In fact, Paul is winning nearly every single online GOP debate poll, many of them by a very wide margin. It was also obvious who the crowd preferred last night in Ames, as Ron Paul supporters were clearly the loudest and most influential contingent at the event. Still not convinced? During and after the debate last night, Ron Paul was #4 on Goggle Trends, well ahead of the other candidates. At last check, he is still #4, which is quite a feat.

Furthermore, he remains one of the top trending topics on Twitter, which is a very reliable gauge of interest.

CONTINUE . . .

And this is what we get from the mainstream corporate news.

He sure gave Rick Santorum headaches. Yeah, I watched it, and he got the most applause.

RP won before but came no where near being elected. There is no conspiracy against him being elected. There are just far to many voters who believe he takes some things to far. I like a lot of what he has to say but he places blame for some things in the wrong direction. He shoots his own foot.

There was no "winner".

The biggest stir and the most salient points were scored by, of all people, Newt Gingrich.

Ron Paul is an also ran. Alkways has been, but he has a cultlike following and always polls about 8-10 %. He couldn't win a national election with a 30% handicap.

Amazing. The pseudocons will stop at nothing to perch Paul on a pedestal. If you've ever see Jeff Dunham's "Walter" character, you've seen Paul. I wish he were truly a libertarian, but he isn't. Santorum had the guts to call Paul out, but it only gives a fringe pseudocon the attention. Bachmann won the straw poll, showing she has the pseudocon vote locked down for now.

Carpro was right. Gingrich scored the most points in the debate. Paul's machinery got him lots of hoops and hollers, but let's see where he is come primary season. Gingrich will probably hang on for the Caucus. Maybe one or two will bow out due to money before then.

I'd ask Tom Vols what is so conservative about borrowing money to fight long, unwinnable wars, at the same time ignoring our own borders, but I know I will only get an insult.

Also, saying a guy won a debate is not putting him on a pedestal, kind of a stretch, there.

But I know I will only be insulted for that, as well.

Michelle Bachman, and ole' Newt "sure, till death do us part" Gingrich will need your money as bad as Obama does.

The suggestion that the current wars are "unwinnable" is not credible but most likely in the pejorative sense. I believe Gingrich won the GOP debate. I was greatly disappointed in the exchange between Bachman and Pawlenty. But Bachman won the straw poll.

Yeah, I think it does. I was deployed to the Persian Gulf 3 times, between 1981, and 1983. Our presence in Iran predates my deployment by 28 years.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEyup. We should have that place fixed any day, now.

Well I guess if you can't beat em fair and square there's always character assassination eh Tom?

Also, it just dawned on me, what is so conservative about borrowing money to fight WINNABLE wars ?

Curtis, to my knowledge, I've never personally insulted you, friend. If I have, I apologize. I agree that we should bring our troops home safely and am not a fan of the Bush doctrine. I don't think we should borrow money for...just about anything, especially warfare. The Keynesian policies of Georack Bushama are stifling our economy.

I am a conservative libertarian and would love to see a candidate I could support with a consistently conservative libertarian record.

I'm still waiting.
