Ron Paul Wins Iowa GOP Debate

Fair point. There are people who still believe that Gore won all '00 debates and Dole swept the '96 debates. Naturally, Paul's supporters will say he won the debates, as will Romney's, Santorum's, etc.

Curtis, to my knowledge, I've never personally insulted you, friend. If I have, I apologize. I agree that we should bring our troops home safely and am not a fan of the Bush doctrine. I don't think we should borrow money for...just about anything, especially warfare. The Keynesian policies of Georack Bushama are stifling our economy.

I am a conservative libertarian and would love to see a candidate I could support with a consistently conservative libertarian record.

I'm still waiting.

I did object to being labled a "psuedocon", but accept all your points.

Would you believe the Wall St Journal?

But back to the OP.

I don't believe anyone won the debate.

IMHO - nobody ever wins a debate - you simply state your views and see who changes their mind.

Yeah I'd believe the Wall Street Journal would say that being part of the Faux Snews family and all I'd be surprised if it claimed any different.

Fox News was even forced to take down its own poll from its website after Paul crushed the competition in a landslide. Readers can can view that poll here. This is the largest online GOP debate poll, and just under 30,000 Americans have voted. Ron Paul has received a whopping 16,188 votes thus far, which is more than triple the support of runner-up Newt Gingrich. [link]

I knew I shoulda asked for credible sources. :BangHead:

I like Ron Paul as a person. He is fun to listen to but I don't think MANY Americans see him as a viable or serious candidate.

Anyone who thinks its ok for Iran to get a nuclear weapon better believe in legalizing marijuana, because we are all going to need it.

How long after Iran has a weapon will Israel be blown off the map? It is not a matter of IF but WHEN. Ron Paul, God love him, doesn't seem to realize the implications of such things in his idealized utopia, which is why he largely appeals to young idealists, who are VERY boisterous and turn out in large numbers.

Would you rather vote for Ron Paul or Barack Obama?

That matchup is not even in the realm of possibilities and not worth considering.

That being said, I'd vote for a retarded monkey before I'd vote for Obama.

Sorry about not giving you a creditable source, I just didn't have the web address for the National Enquirer

I did not label you anything, Curtis. I made an observation about some supporters of Paul who will stop at nothing, including duplicity, to bend and distort reality to idealize Paul.

I don't think this is you. If it is, well, then I'm wrong. But I don't think it is. You seem to be a reasonable supporter of his, a rare sight on this board.

To some, the only credible source is that which would say Paul won the straw poll, the '08 presidential race, the Heisman Trophy, and the Queen of the Tournament of Roses Parade.

and don't forget what started it all - when Abe Lincoln stoled the election from Ron Paul back in '60...:type:

OK. I'll say no more about it.

"Which two? "

ABC and NBC for sure on the evening news PST.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/14/us/politics/14iowa.html?_r=1&hp

for another

The owner of ABC (Disney) is invested in oil and natural gas exploitation.

The owner of NBC (General Electric) is a military contractor.

It wouldn't be in their best interest to report that Ron Paul is shining in all the polls. Bachmann is a safer bet for them as she would continue the all war all the time everywhere strategy that brings Disney and GE incredible profits in the business of endless global warfare.

Talk about media bias. BTW, have you read the comment sections yet?

Some are just more persuaded by the facts Tom, thats all. Evidently you aren't one of those inflicted with this particular malady.

What are some these facts? Let's take a look.

The official number of votes counted in the 2011 Iowa Straw Poll is 16,892. The general breakdown of the total is as follows:

4823 – Michelle Bachmann
4671 – Ron Paul
2293 – Pawlenty
1657 – Santorum
1456 – Cain
718 – Perry
567 – Romney
385 – Gingrich
69 – Huntsman
35 – McCotter

Ok, so let’s add up the votes (4823 + 4671 + 2293 + 1657 + 1456 + 718 + 567 + 385 + 69 +35 = 16,674). But wait a minute, the total votes counted were 16,892 right? So, of the total votes counted in the Iowa Straw Poll amounting to 16,892. The ten candidates listed above garnered 16,674. Well that leaves 218 votes unaccounted for.

So where did the remaining 218 votes go?

MSNBC has reported that the 218 is actually only 162 votes that are a “scattering” of ballots for candidates receiving less than one percent of the votes. Ok, fine, so who are these candidates? In addition, if as MSNBC is reporting it is only 162 and not 218, then where did the other 56 votes go? Hey! Let’s confuse the public even more!

Source: http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/08/13/7366544-bachmann-wins-ames-straw-poll

< snip >

In closing I suppose we have two mysteries.

1. Where are the 218 unaccounted for votes?
2. Why are media outlets replacing Ron Paul’s second place victory with Rick Perry?

Let’s move on shall we?

Once again I urge everyone to read the comment section at your own risk. Sometimes there is some rather off color comments but mostly you are at risk of finding out just how small the minority is that still believes the government and mainstream corporate media has any credibility left at all. It's that way with all the comments sections from every "news source" I come across. Don't believe me? Start reading them for yourself.

The FACT is that it cost $30 per person to vote. You did not have to be a registered Republican. (though you must prove you are a resident of Iowa now) -

Most of the candidates (election committee) bought ballots for their supporters. And it is not uncommon for certain candidates to bus in potential voters.

So this is nothing more than a dog and pony show. Thus it carries very little weight with me.

The real test will come in Dec 5, with the LEGAL Caucus.

The verdict is in - Ron Paul won last night's GOP Presidential debate in Ames, Iowa.

I hope this is the end of Ron Paul, if he would win the GOP nomination, if he does it will be another election that I'll have to find a 3rd. party guy or just not vote for anyone for president.

Could be some are illegiable, could be someone voted for Mickey Mouse, could be - a hundred things

2. Why are media outlets replacing Ron Paul’s second place victory with Rick Perry?

Could be they think that Perry has a much better chance at winning the nonimation that Paul.

Since you like facts, lets talk about facts.
In his prior runs, Paul has never done very well.

So why would Paul never win: Click here

But wouldnt he get lots of votes because he is against pork?
(see item #7 of the above link)

I am talking about facts Salty. What do you mean Paul will never win? He wins everytime he steps in front of the cameras. When there's winners there's losers. Who's losing then? The establishment and the mass dream media are losing. The money changers are losing, the war mongers are losing, the corporate talking head disinformation experts are losing. Why? Because they are being exposed for the frauds they are everytime Ron Paul speaks . . . and they know it! Read the comment sections of the articles that attempt to downplay and demonize Ron Paul. People aren't buying it anymore. The people here are buying it still but then the people here have proven several times over they are one of the most under informed groups on the planet.

Why? Evidently because most of the people here still think the conglomerated mass corporate media is there to inform them and nothing could be further from the truth. They are there to manipulate public opinion. Period. Ron Paul on the other hand is there to inform people and he has been and is doing a fine job of it. The "proof" is in the all the comment sections of the artciles that try and put ole Ron down. Start reading them.

Those are the facts Salty. Like em or don't they are what they are.

So now you'd rather not talk about facts, is that it? By the way Salty the author of the article in your link is full of baloney and is using the samo lamo "Paul can't win" mantra that every other establishment pundit is programmed to repeat. I find it rather telling that they all use the same tired old blather word for word. Makes me wonder who's writting the script.

Not really I know who writes the script. A group of private bankers and the "corporations that grew up around it". Isn't corporate fascism wonderful? Must be for you all to keep rooting for it. Mindlessly.

Let ya in on a little secret Salty. I post about Ron Paul mostly because I know all you endless warfare/welfare corporate statists can't stand him because he gives you answers to questions you don't want asked.
