You all quoted Bible Verses as support for your position. While the Pro-Santa crowd used mockery and reticule.

I could imagine the contempt on their faces as they sprang to the defense of that “jolly old elf”. You can say what you want about Jesus but DON’T you say anything against the Clause.

Some of them have tossed a bone to their conscience, in an attempt to silence it, by telling the kids that “Jesus is the reason for the season”. You’re not fooling the kids. Your actions speak louder than your words. They see you spending way more time and money on the Santa side of Christmas than you do on the Jesus side of life the whole year! Your so filled with the “Spirit of Christmas” that you will tell a compliant stranger “marry Christmas” but your kids have never seen you share the Gospel.
You may as well clime up on the roof and shout, “kids, your dad is a hypocrite!”

Your different, your kids don’t think you’re a hypocrite (ops, I forgot to mention the rest of you family). And I certainly didn’t mean to imply that you don’t know the Lord and are the victim of easy-believeism. No… seriously…. Your OK, it’s the ones that use the Bible as some sort of a guide or something…it’s them…not you. And there really is a Santa Claws…I saw him!

Larry: I find it interesting that you know exactly how we think, so well in fact you can read our mind! I'm impressed Since you already know what I am going to say you don't have to read my response, but for anyone who doesn't know how to read minds my response is below. . .

To everyone else:

You know, I actually had to write an essay on Santa Clause in my freshman English class. At first I started by taking the stance that we should NEVER teach our kids about Santa. . . YET I was asked to prove how santa is damaging. I have yet to find one case that a childs trust in their parents was permanetly damaged as a result of believing in Santa. A child who is that damaged has bigger problems.

Now perhaps it would be best for children to understand that santa is a fantasy right from the start-that I can understand and appreciate. I think parents who force Santa on their children as fact when the children know better are a little off the wall to say the least. yet there is still nothing wrong with a child believing in Santa the same way he/she believes in Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny. they know it is not real, but it is still fun for them. Let's not strip them of their childhood.

Thus, I guess I am left with this question for the legalists: Are our children not allowed to exercise their imagination???

We did not lie to either of our children. We told them that Santa was a fairy tale and did not even put Santa's name on the tags. A few years we even opted to not have a tree and placed our presents under our nativity scene instead.

Even with all that, my youngest son was determined to believe in Santa Claus. He learned about Christmas traditions all around the world in Kindergarten and kept asking about Santa. We would tell him that he was not real but my son insisted he was. He believed this just like my oldest son believed that we had really gone to Mars because we rode on the ride Trip to Mars at Disney World. They have a great imagination and I don't think it harms them to use it. So far, both my children believe in the Lord. My youngest son (age 14), the one that believed in Santa is the strongest of the two. He looks forward to Church and studies God's Word on a regular basis. I don't think believing in Santa hurt him at all, but I still didn't lie to him. He just refused to believe me!

I think there is a big difference in letting them know it is a fantasy and actually "pretending" along with them, without telling them the truth, no it won't probably won't permanantly hurt them, but does that make it right? The toughest part for me was that even though I told my children the truth, I had to make them understand that they shouldn't just tell anyone that Santa was fake. In retrospect I shouldn't have cared. My kids should not have to "hide" the truth for any reason.

Just my thoughts anyway.

I guess that’s me. Sure imagination if fine. They can imagine what they may say, at the judgment seat of Christ. They can try to imagine what Jesus meant when he said that it would be better for some, if a millstone were tied around someone’s neck and cast into the sea. They can imagine that their dolly is real and they are giving it a bottle etc.

What imagination dose it take to believe a lie?

I've got a question for you. Could you quote anything from the Bible that concerns imagination?

No, off the top of my head I can't give any scripture about imagination but how about if you do.

Its funny how growing up with Santa never once harmed me and never took me away from the truth of Jesus Christ. Fact is the spirit of Christmas is of giving to each other and of love for one another. In fact its the one time of the year that the world usually drops everything to recognize each other and care...gee what a bad bad spirit that is..

By your statement that "Genesis 1-11" "takes some imagination," you obviously speak for yourself and not mainstream faithful followers of Jesus Christ. For some, "imagination" fills the void of what cannot be understood or comprehended. For others, such as myself, "faith" fills that void; faith that believes God said what He meant, and meant what He said in His revelation to mankind.

Am I one of the ears that is suppose to hear? I'm assuming I am since I don't believe Santa is the Anti-Christ (hey- define Anti-Christ for me).

I hear the verses. Human imagination can indeed be a evil horrible thing. No doubt eh? But if I didn't have an imagination I doubt I would have been able to think of such creative ways to come up with ideas to share the gospel through my website and through school.

I mean are we sitting here debating if Santa is actually the anti-christ incarnate? Or if Satan can use him for the wrong reasons? I mean I could be called the anti-Christ and so could anyone else here based on the definition that we have given "anti-christ" for santa. We I am sure at one point or another have all been a bad influence and have acted in sin.

But since santa doesn't even exist I somehow doubt Santa is the one who we should call the anti-christ. Hrm...then who is spreading these lies...oh yeah- people. Darn them imperfect mortals
