Are there any Baptist pastors that agree with you (that the Bible can't be honestly translated into English) or is this just your idea?
Ask the board,

When they are shown the significance of a passage they usually accept the idea.

fyi , find a Young's Literal Translation and read the forward.

yes, The original languages do not flow as English and of course has punctuation when the originals do not. It is awkward to follow word to word translation , Read the Young's or find a linear translation to see changes

Matthew 24:36
But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.

But Christ did specify the generation:

When Jesus used the expression, “this generation” He always meant the generation of His contemporaries.

“To what then shall I compare the men of this generation, and what are they like?” (Luke 7:31).

“But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the market places, who call out to the other children” (Matthew 11:16).

“The men of Nineveh will stand up with this generation at the judgment, and will condemn it because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, something greater than Jonah is here” (Matthew 12:41).

“The Queen of the South will rise up with this generation at the judgment and will condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, something greater than Solomon is here” (Matthew 12:42).

Sighing deeply in His spirit, He said, “Why does this generation seek for a sign? Truly I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation” (Mark 8:12).

As the crowds were increasing, He began to say, “This generation is a wicked generation; it seeks for a sign, and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah” (Luke 11:29).

“For just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation” (Luke 11:30).

“The Queen of the South will rise up with the men of this generation at the judgment and condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, something greater than Solomon is here” (Luke 11:31).

“The men of Nineveh will stand up with this generation at the judgment and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, something greater than Jonah is here” (Luke 11:32).

“so that the blood of all the prophets, shed since the foundation of the world, may be charged against this generation” (Luke 11:50).

“from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the house of God; yes, I tell you, it shall be charged against this generation” (Luke 11:51).

“Truly I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation” (Matthew 23:36).

“But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation” (Luke 17:25).

“Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all things take place” (Luke 21:32).

“Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.” (Matthew 24:34).

One little prob...JESUS HASN'T YET RETURNED ! !

The Baptist Debate Forums (Baptist Only) is discussing an important question: Satan Crushed Shortly.

For curious, Biblically literate, non-Baptists that welcome a serious intellectual challenge, the only indisputably Biblical answer to this riddle is hinted at in this locked thread: Did William Miller Ever Stop Being A Baptist?

I agree with the Partial Preterists on that thread. Satan had been active against God's Old Covenant people, while keeping the Gentiles captive & in ignorance of God. Jesus came to destroy his works, "to bind the strong man" but whose influence on the unbelieving Jews continued until the AD 70 destruction in their jealousy against the Gospel, especially spreading to the Gentiles.

That began the Gospel age millennium as the Gospel spread through the nations without the Jews having any base to destroy the Church. The fact that evil men continue to war against the church is consistent with prophecy.

In a real sense, Jesus came in AD 70 to do what he prophesied on Olivet, while "this generation" continued. They "saw" him as the understood his prophecy of their destruction was realised. See my Peter's prophecy thread.

But He has not yet fulfilled the Israel restoration prophecies - e.g. Zechariah 14.

I'm not aware that the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 marked a significant turning point for Christians historically. I believe that the exceeding power of the Holy Spirit and the unprecedented turning of the Christians toward sharing the gospel with the gentiles, which angered the Jews mightily, was the beginning of the gospel age. Furthermore, most certainly, Jesus didn't return on clouds to the earth in the same manner that the disciples saw Him ascend to heaven.

Acts 1:6-11
So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
