Saved in a Calvinistic Baptist Church

The thought that John Bunyan was anything at all like John Calvin is pure, Butterball brand bologna!
No one expressed that their personalities were similar. Their theology, however, is similar. John Owens, a Scottish Calvinist, was good friends with John Bunyan because they both held the same view of God's Sovereign gracious salvation.

I would consider John Bunyan to be a non-conformist and his doctrine holiness in nature.

John Bunyan had no Calvinist friends.

But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days. - Daniel 12:13
I believe there will be a Laodicean lot to stand in at the end of the days.

What proof do you have of John Calvin being the tyrant you are claiming him to be? I am sure you can find those who oppose Calvinism who would give you their spin on history.

In reading church history I ran upon a John Flavel (c.1627–1691) who[was an EnglishPuritan Presbyterian minister and author who once said… “man's extremity is god's opportunity.” On reading into the history of the seven churches I find that man’s extremity is God’s big headache. Salvation is as easy as believing on the Lord Jesus Christ and it is amazing how quickly such salvation can be made complicated.

That may be your consideration, however, Bunyan is a particular baptist, one who agreed with John Calvin in regards to the means by which a person is saved.
I am glad you like Bunyan. God blessed us with Bunyan's writing.

I was listening to a sermon from Eric Alexander, a Scottish preacher from 1950 something to about 1990, who said that John Owens loved John Bunyan and fought for Bunyan's release from prison. He went all the way to the King of England to try secure Bunyan's release, but to no avail. Owens wondered why God chose not to release his good friend...until Bunyan got out of prison and Owens read what Bunyan had wrote while in jail. Then Owens understood the reason why God refused to release Bunyan from jail. The world was given Pilgrims Progress.

By the way. Here is the link for Tapes from Scotland where you can hear hundreds of sermons from various Scottish preachers. It is likely that Alistair Begg is a product of some of these preachers.

Calvin hated the Ana-Baptist and would have had Bunyan burned at the stake as he did Michael Servetus.
Honestly, you are making assertions that are coming from your emotions, not from facts. I cannot change your extreme prejudice that rejects facts.

You do realize that John Bunyan was not ever an Anabaptist.
I have read, I believe it was in His Grace Abounding book, "sometimes men call me Anabaptist," but he never claimed to be one, but didn’t deny it. In all his readings I have never heard of him identifying himself as anything but a Christian.

You simply do not know his spiritual lineage.

Spiritual lineage? He was locked up for being different! No one wrote books like The Heavenly Footman, Grace Abounding, The Pilgrims Progress, and The Holy War like he did! He was a unique soul! Calvin would have had him arrested!

When I got saved I would spend years reading The King James Version Open Bible the Freewill Baptist church gave me along with John Bunyan’s complete library at Virginia Tech. Loved the works! Let me read it again and bless my soul!
