So do you agree with Sean, or do you think that it is just wishful thinking of the part of Sean?
No, I do not agree. I think people like Hannity are engaged in wishful thinking. A reality check will show that:
(a) Obama is the first African-American President who received a large amount of African-American support for that very reason. In 2012 many of those same people will come out in force to make sure he is re-elected.
(b) Obama's hardcore left wing supporters are disappointed in him because they believe he is not liberal enough. Having said that, they are unlikely to vote against him in 2012.
(c) The Republicans have nobody that can run against Obama successfully.
(d) There might be some third party options, but most people are not
yet ready to vote third party for president. I am tempted to go third party in 2012. Might there be a "Paul" in the race?
This is not to say that Obama
will win a second term. It is only to say that
as things stand right now I see no reason to think he will not. Hannity is only seeing what he wants to see. This should not surprise us though, Hannity is a partisan hack who rarely examines things critically.
